Shower rod

My trailer is in storage or else I go out and look. Are the two screws that hold the brackets that the rod goes into, vertical or horizontal? I bought an extendable shower rod and the screw holes are vertical and I'm just trying to save some time in cace I need to add some sort of backing plate.

Thanks!!
