AR-1 at Bensen Days

We traveled from Houston to Wauchula Florida this week in our new Passport 2890rl to get our new American Ranger 1 auto gyro. There's still some tweaking to do and the manufacturer is taking it to Sun and Fun next week as this is the first modern designed gyro built in the US, we will be back in a couple weeks to pick it up and take it back to the airport in Anahuac Texas.

That's great. Nice looking rig and Gyro. Do you have to be a licensed pilot to operate one?

Very cool.

The tail section looks kind of like an afterthought and a little precarious?

A pilots license is required. The tail s designed to give balance and rudder authority.

Take it from an ol' "Navy Airdale" ... Auto Gyros, and Helicopters don't really fly... they just beat the air into submission, that's why they're called choppers!!! LOL

Nice looking unit. Enjoy the ride!

What do those gyros have for power?

They were removed the night before and not reinstalled prior to the air show. It is in its 40hour test period right now so a passenger can't ride, the seat belts will be installed soon. There are some other minor wearing that needs to be done. The is the very first American Built (American manufacturer) modern designed auto gyro.

You must have a Sport Copter. I was at Rotors Over the Rockies a couple years ago, we probably know a lot f the same people.

I don't know how you think you've seen this one before, this is the very first one and was just introduced this week. What do you have? I sold my RAF and have two KB3s for sale.

Very cool. Wish me and my Keystone were attending SnF and picking up a new aircraft, but I've got a couple of trips already booked for the Keystone in May and lots of flying planned, so I'll "survive"! ;-)
