A pitpin is a pin with a locking ball mechanism, usually used on heavy equipment to lock it securely. The Ball mechanism is a quick means of unlocking the pin for quick removal:



We used them a lot in the Air Force, the pins were used to safety the landing gear on the Aircraft on the aground were exclusively pit pins.

Or you could go with the following quick release pin:



My problem with the bolt is if you have an emergency, say like (god forbid) your rig is on fire you would have to loosen the nut and pull the bolt out, where as with the pin you just pull the locking pin and yank it out.

Rusty I have the drift now just never have called pins that name. You have a real good point I will make a small change in the bolt just bought a nut dam it oh well was $3.30 not a great big deal. I have to make it more reachable to remove so now I have some to think on there is a hole for a pin I have a hitch pin now a short cable on the pin may work but a handle will be nice on the other end also for removal and installing My Dodge is high and I am short lol Bushman...or John
