303 Marine UV Protectant

Yes, there are many threads out there singing the praises of 303. So I bought some. It arrived today. I washed the Cougar and hand dried. Went around the back (shady side) and applied/sprayed on the 303. Wiped it down with a dry towel. It didn't smooth out to a nice polished surface. Buffed and buffed, still looked spotty. Used a damp towel per the instructions and dried again. Still spotty.
Bought this stuff for the roof but everyone swears by it for the gelcoat and decals as well. Not too worried about how the roof looks as long as it's protected. But, what am I missing about applying it to the sides and slides??
Thanks for the help

One of the last strings on this came to the conclusion that it doesn't play nice with some waxes. They cleaned with Dawn then applied 303 and had better results.

Looks like I'll be using 303 on the roof only. I was hoping to save a little elbow grease with the 303. Guess it's back to the old liquid wax method. Found this after a little more research. (BTW I did use Dawn to wash the 5er before trying the 303)
""Thank you for contacting Gold Eagle Co. 303® Aerospace Protectant may not be fully compatible with already-treated surfaces with most polishes. The reason for this is because 303AP is a water based product, and these polishes repel water. 303AP would simply not bond properly. I suggest to wait until the polish wears off, or strip it off with a non-abrasive rubbing compound. If you require further assistance please feel free to contact me."

I started out using 303 on everything. My front area was getting oxidized. Now I use 303 on everything except for the front. I put Zaino on the front. Zaino is an awesome synthetic polish that lasts much longer than wax.
