A/C compressor time delay?

I have just completed installing my Progressive Industries EMS-HW30C. Well, what I've really done is install the main box and plugged in the digital remote and confirmed all works well. The installation was relatively painless - my only point of confusion was the orientation of the torroid; the manual made it seem as if an arrow was a painted arrow on the side, whereas it was really an embossed arrow on one of the faces. A quick call to their technical support indicated I had it properly configured.

There's a time delay feature built into the device to protect the A/C compressor; it is set to 15 seconds (default) with the option to increase it to 136 seconds. You're supposed to use the latter if your A/C unit does not have a built-in time delay for the compressor.

I have a Dometic 13, 500 BTU A/C, but which exact model, I do not know. I did not receive a manual for the A/C or heater from the dealer. I have poked around Dometic's web site to see if I could find a manual that might indicate if the unit has a time delay, but so far have not met with success.

Two questions:

1) Where does one find the model number for the A/C unit?
2) Do Dometic units typically have the built-in delay?

Thank you.

A/C compressor time delay?

Your A/C should have a built in time delay for the compressor. Common for RV units for a number of years now. You can get the model number one of 2 ways. Take the shroud off on the roof and look for the data tag, or take off the ceiling plenum assembly and the model number should be on a tag in the intake side. Shroud removal is easier but requires getting on the roof. Probably Phillips head screws hold the shroud in place.

FWIW, I just put the same hard wired EMS in this week. Love the remote display.

Chuckster

Thank you for the info. I'll leave the default 15 second delay. And I'll probably attempt to remove the interior plenum assembly rather than climb on the roof.

Your welcome. I will say having done both, taking the shroud off is easier.

Just take off the filter cover inside your TT there will be a label on the top of the filter compartment with all the details. I used a camera to capture the details.

Thank you. I did as you suggested and found a surprise (besides a dirty filter).

My A/C unit is not 13,500 BTU as quoted in the advertising brochure - it is 15,000 BTU, an upgrade option. I didn't realize we had this.
