iPod port to iPod cable

Hello,

I am looking for the cable that goes between the iPod port (bottom left most port on stereo of attachment) and the iPod.

Has anyone used this port? Does it work on iPads and iPhones? What versions? Does it just work for music or video also?

If possible do you know where I can buy it online (canada).

Thank you.

That kind of looks like a regular headphone-sized jack. So you'd plug a male-to-male cord from your iPhone into your stereo.

No, I think he's referring to the narrow / wide port between the headphone jack (AV in / Aux in) and the round port on the bottom left (Digi in).

The bottom right looks like the same cord that you charge with. Not 100% sure from the picture. We rarely ever use the radio so I have never hooked the iPod to it.

Hi,

No I mean the very bottom / left most port (plastic cover inserted)
(Although I do wonder what the flat narrow input is beside this port)

My picture angle is high so we can not see the words but it says "ipod port"

After googling a bit I saw a link someone posted (but it is for a Jensen stereo). Based on research / posts I searched here, I think ours / mine is an Estone make.

Not sure what the bottom left one is but the long narrow one right next to it most likely is an sd card slot. But the one on the far right is the USB port and could possibly play back I pod or iPhone music. But that all depends on if the firmware is loaded onto the radio. If not you can charge the phone or mp3 player there and use a headphone to headphone jack on the av in/aux in to hear the music.

If you search Ebay for "ipod din cable" you should be able to find one. Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

Thanks BirchBoy.

I have contacted the vendor from the link above. I have ordered this proprietary cable ($15 + ups shipping)

They were not able to tell me much about the cables capabilities (play audio/ video etc...)

Once the cable arrives I will take a picture and post details.

Oh, duh. I didn't even look a bit to the right to see your AUX IN jack. That's what I use when I play my iPhone through the stereo.

We'll I received the cable and briefly tested it this last weekend.

I was able to connect my iphone 5 (with adapter from 30pin to lightning) and iPad 2 directly to the stereo. Then I was able to play audio through all speakers. I was trying to get video to work but so far I have not had success (I doubt it will work).

From what I can tell so far, is that just paid for a cable that does the same thing as the aux (3.5 mm) cable.

I am waiting on a technical person to call me back to discuss any other capabilities of this cable.

I would love to hear if you find anything additional out. I also purchased the cable based on the above information from e-stone (technically Patrick Industries).

The only benefit I find to using this cable vs. the aux port is that I think it may also charge my iPod. I haven't found that I can control the iPod through the stereo (which is kind of why I wanted the cable). The sound does seem a little louder through this cable than through the aux port, but otherwise not sure it's worth it to have a cable hanging down in front of the stereo where anyone can catch on it.

I spoke with a technical person from the company who told me that the cable is only for audio and will charge your iphone/ipad/iPod otherwise it seems to be the same as aux connection.
