Duro Tires

Started prepping our 2007 Laredo 25RK 5th wheel for a migration to Florida. Took a look at the tires - JUNK! These tires ware date coded 2006, one had tread separation, three with sidewall cracks and tread cracks - and these tires have only been to Florida and back once and several hundred miles around Wisconsin. Proper inflation, kept covered when not in use. Wrote a not so pretty letter to Duro, alot of good it will do. Is there enough of these failures for a class action lawsuit?

I haven't heard to many good things about Duro tires either. On the bright side, you made it past the five year interval change without any serious incidents!

Happy camping!

It is my understanding that trailer tires that are 5+ years old, regardless of brand and appearance, should be considered for replacement. I can't include any specific references or "proof" to substantiate that statement, but I seem to recall reading an article which advised RV owners to replace tires of that age.
You might Google Duro tires and see what you come up with regarding their past history and performance.

THE SIDE LOADS THAT A TT OR A 5ER PUT ON THE TIRES IS TREMENDOUS FAR MORE THAN YOU PUT ON THE TV. THESE LOADS BREAK DOWN THE BOND BETTWEEN THE SIDE WALL CORD AND THE BELTS THAT IS WHY YOU WILL SEE THAT PLY/TREAD SEPERATION ON THE TIRES. UNDER INFLATION IS THE MAJOR CAUSE OF PLY SEP ON CAR OR TRUCK TIRES. CHEAPO TIRES UNDER INFLATON AND TIME KILL THE TRAILER TIRE. I HAD PLY SEPERATION AFTER FIVE YEARS ON MICHELIN'S ON MY 03. AFTER FIVE YEARS JUNK EM!!!

Ditto, what the others said! We were told "five years max" when bought our first trailer.

This article also states (in part): "Five years from the date of manufacture is considered
a good date for a tire change."

Thankfully you found the tire issues prior to your trip.

Enjoy Fla, and happy trails...
