My insight is that my new Chevy has a dent on the drivers side of the cab. It was caused by my trailer being about a 1/4 inch too long while making a sharp left turn while traveling forward.

That's surprising with the design of the new models. I just watched my dad do dang near 90 degrees with his 06 Chevy and their 2010 Jayco, wasn't even close.

Curious, does the Fuzion have an extended pin box?

That is interesting as jaycos don't seem to have nearly as much cutout compared to keystone or heartland products

Yeah it surprised me that he was able to cut it around that tight. Got into a bad parking lot when my nephew had to make an emergency bathroom break. I was surprised when he turned into the lot (guess it was worth the risk), I had to go around the block with my rig. He has a 6.5' bed with a 35' 5er, I have an 8' bed with a 40' 5er....there was no way I was getting through there with mine.

Accurately measure the distance from the center of your 5th wheel hitch jaws (or where the center of your king pin will be when coupled) to the back of your cab. Now have someone hold the tape at the exact center of the kingpin and sweep the tape around in a 180* arc. This will show you how tight you can turn. Even with "Max turn technology" , the distance from your king pin to the side of your trailer is 4'. You will not be able to turn 90* with a 6.5' truck bed unless you move the pivot point back. In reality, you would very seldom need to put your TV 90* to your trailer. But, it COULD happen. We installed a manual sliding hitch for just that reason. We have used it a couple of times. Actually, the handiest thing about having the hitch is I can slide it back to make it easier to get into the front compartment when we just overnight and don't want to unhook the TV. JMHO

I also have a 6.5 bed and tow a Xlite 28SGS. I've checked it for clearance and while I can't go 90 degrees, I can go about 85 before it would hit the truck. That's enough for me.

Sliders are nice and I used to have one, but mine (Reese) was very heavy and hard to install/remove when not using it.

Back in the old days nearly everybody who towed a 5th wheel did so with long beds. Now the situation is reversed from what I see.

I have 6.5' truck bed with a slider hitch. Never have needed it with the 88 degree corners on my Montana.

The sale guy tried making me buy his 2500$ hitch that works on a slider and cam. I wasn't buying that because keystone with the scalloped front. I also installed my 20 k Reese hitch and ordered the custom easy hitch from Amazon for my Durmax, that fit perfect and where its suppose to be.

I ended up going with b&w drop in hitch and sidewinder for my 2014 megacab. Didn't want to risk contact especially getting into driveway which will require almost 90 degree turn

I tow a 40 ft alpine with a 2009 F-250 short bed and no slider. So far no problems, and I have to back it around a tight 90 bend to get it into my storage slot.
