Golf cart

Anyone ever put their golf cart in the bed of the p/u while pulling the camper? One of the couple we go camping with puts his in the bed of his f350 SRW (short bed) while pulling his KZ spree. I guess I should figure out my payload and tongue weight.

That would definately add to the payload. We use to have a golf cart when we were seasonal, parked it in the shed year round. I know some people brought them in for the weekend but we never did, sold it when we sold the seasonal. If your payload is up there then it might be fine.

My neighbor does it with a short bed 1500 Dodge while towing his 26' TT. Not something that I would subscribe to, but he does it on a regular basis.

Yeah, I wouldnt dream of it with a 1500 and my TT. Now that I have the 350 its crossing my mind. Id rather just attach a hitch to the rear of the TT but Iv been told the frame is to weak for a little 10ft trailer carrying the cart. Im not even sure how much a standard cart weighs? 500 pounds maybe?

Before you invest any time/effort/money, be sure to check your state law (& those states where you plan
to travel) -- towing a trailer behind a travel trailer isn't legal is some states.

Just thinking out loud...

The ,6, 8 volt batteries weigh in the neighborhood of 450 lbs. that is not including the cart, motor, controller, body, frame or anything. Motor would be in the 50 lb range. My club car would weigh close to 900lbs with all the crap I have on it.

I would definately not haul my golf cart in my short bed 250. The tail gate would have to be down to haul it and that would not work with my TT. Muchless I would be over payload by a substantial margin!!!!

I did it last year with a gas powered golf cart in my 3500 long bed.
I just purchased a 36v cart for this year and plan on hauling it the same way.

I have a 350 but I believe the payloads are close to the same as a 250 if not exact for the SRW. My buddy takes his tailgate off and straps the cart down.

2011 keystone: Is yours a dually or SRW?

We have a f450 drw, hauled our 48 volt golf cart on the back, we have a 8ft bed and it came to the end of the bed. We stored the tailgate in the camper. Now we have a 5er no longer an option. We are looking at attaching a ext. on the back of 5er for it.

A buddy had a 2000 f-350 SRW, towed a 28ft trailer and put two ATVs on racks sideways on top of the truck bed. Used it alot thru out Eastern Or and yearly travels to MT. Sold it it 08 for a motorhome and trailering the ATVs. He never said if he checked the wt. My guess he was over the GVWR of 9900.

When you load the GC make sure you remove the front windshield or at least fold it down if it splits in the middle..
And if you are loading it to a 6' bed I would use straps to hold it down and in place...... I have an 8' bed so I could close the tail gate and feel like it was not going anywhere...
On long trips I would strap it down too...
