RVing History
I just ran across a pretty interesting site. Some of the very first travel trailers, fifth wheels and motorhomes (house cars) are pictured. You might find it interesting, I sure did

There is a great book about this too. Ready To Roll, A Celebration of the Classic American Travel Trailer. It is by Arrol Gellner and Douglas Keister. Lots of photos.

Cool site... Sad thing I remember camping in some of the older units when I was a kid ... I must have loved it because I'm still camping today... just a little upgraded

Very, very cool! Thanks for the link JRTJH. Slide #13 reminds me of the movie, The Long, Long Trailer with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, what a hoot! You can see a few of these up close at the RV/MH Hall of Fame and Museum in Elkhart IN.

I had no idea that 5vers dated that far back. Also, how was that sedan car-back camper ever a good idea? Tell me that didn't put the whole thing WAY over the GVWR .

Last summer the Tin Can Tourists held a rally at Hoffmaster State Park, Norton Shores, MI. There were 64 classic trailers, original and repo, in the campground and the public was invited to tour. Schedule at the site below. If they are in your area it is an afternoon well spent.

I remember seeing a setup similar to that last shot of the Class A with the coupe stored below at the LA Car Show at least a decade ago.
