Inflator Recommendations?
I'd appreciate recommendations for an effective small 120V AC tire inflator. I've had a Craftsman inflator for the past 10 years or so that I really liked but it has pumped its last psi . Since Sears no longer sells the same unit I'm looking for recommendations for a replacement. I tried a Campbell Hausfeld unit from Menards but its performance was dissapointing. Hoping to get something for under $100. Suggestions anyone?

Mine, came with the Fuzion, is from Harbor Freight. It is a chrome unit and runs off of the house batteries.

For my intended use 120V will be much more convenient. Also, I suspect that the 12V versions don't push as many SCFM as one running on 120V. The one that I wore out pumped 1.0 SCFM. Most that I have seen recently are rated at a fraction of that and simply take too long to fill anything bigger than a bike tire.

Bill -
I think you will be disappointed if you purchase a 12v inflator. Most of them just don't have the muscle to inflate much of anything except small tires, air mattresses and the like. I believe there are 1 or 2 on the market that will do a better job but they are very pricey and still won't match the 110v types for inflating car/truck/RV tires.
There are quite a few 110v models available in the price range you are looking at.

MISailor, Howdy;
I bought one of these last year.

Got mine from Amazon. Works fine, fits neatly into the front storage area
with the batteries and a few other items.

I had concerns with height in my cougars 5ers basement so I bought a single tank unit which I've used regularly for both my truck and 5er. I also bought a 50 foot hose so I leave the compressor in the basement and use it in place when needed. http://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-D55140-...essor+portable

I got one of these little guys from Northern Tool, and it works pretty well - much faster than the old one I had. I wanted 12v because I often "air down" the van tires when I go on the beach, and wanted to be able to bring them back up to highway pressure if there wasn't a regular air station handy. This little guy will bring my 285/70R16 tires from 25 to 65 psi in about 5 minutes. I like that the chuck screws onto the valve stem so you don't have to hold it on the whole time - just watch the gauge.
