Rough Rider

Hello again folks. After coming back from Montreal to Phila area i came down the New York state thruway and the new jersey turnpike for a dandy ride that was BRUTALLY HARSH on my suspension on the trailer, truck and my last nerve., My body was still vibrating after 4 hours I told the wife that i am going to do an upgrade. I am looking for any recommendations and feedback on the products you have used. I was leaning towards a slipper spring and shock setup.

Try avoiding horrible roads. There is always an alternative.

Well start with high quality shocks on both the truck and trailer.

You've got a 2023 Cougar which probably has 2 or 2.5 years remaining on the structural warranty. Installing "slipper springs" or making modifications to the trailer suspension will likely void that warranty. With all the sidewall movement issues and roof issues that have been reported recently, I'd do some "serious thinking" about whether risking the loss of that warranty is worth the cost to modify the trailer and how often you'll be returning to tow on those two specific "wunnerful roadways".....

The best option would be to move up to a fifth wheel. You've got the truck for it.

NOT the best option, this is my 5th trailer I could have bought one whenever. I always do my homework. There are no great advantages of getting a 5ver for me My cougar is 37.5 ft long there is no other layout that is better than this rig and the suspensions are pretty much the same.

Thanks john, this usually is the route for going anywhere north. i have a couple of alternate ways to go but they add substantial time and mileage to my trips. I don't want to laugh but most warranties aren't worth the paper they are written on, you know that more than anyone here. I have NO patience with customer service reps and being on the phone. If any issue gets to be that bad I trade in the camper or fix and sell it myself!
