TV reception

I have a Cougar 23MLE. Just like in my last fifth wheel the tv in the bedroom gets better reception and more live channels than the one in the living area. Any tips on getting better reception? We tried the Winegard receiver but it didn’t do any better. We generally camp where there is poor internet and cell service.

Keystone trailers are NOTORIOUS for finding loose coax connectors in the TV cable runs. I'd start with checking every coax connector on the KEYTV box, then at the back of every TV, amplifier and splitter you can find. There should be at least 9 or 10 connectors scattered throughout the trailer.

Also, televisions are not all equally sensitive to pulling in signals in weak areas. Next time you're faced with the different reception quality, you might consider unplugging the "good reception set" and hooking it up to the wiring where the "bad reception TV is located. If the good TV has bad reception, it's in the wiring. If the good TV has good reception where the bad TV was wired, then it's the "bad receiver in that TV"....

If you're trailer is in warranty, you might get the dealership to install another TV. If you're out of warranty, there are some pretty nice "smart TV's" for not too much money.

I tighten the connections at the Key box and behind the TV. That improved the reception but I still get fewer programs on the TV in the living area. Next I am going to get the same make of TV that is in the bedroom. Maybe that will work.

Before I bought a new TV, I would swap them and see if there is any difference. That will tell you if it's the TV or the location.

If some broadcast channels are not showing on one of the televisions, try a rescan. Broadcast engineers sometimes change some of the transmission aspects and a rescan is needed to pop a station back on your set.

Just went thru this on our Montana. Found lots of loose connections, a bad connection on the cable wire (the center copper wire still had insulation on it)
Everything got better but not good yet. Jumped across the Sat/cable splitter and everything cleared right up. I am ordering a new splitter.

The three white cables go to the TV’s, the cables on the other side come from two Sat inputs and the gray one in the middle is from the ant booster.

I went theough all my splitters and discovered that some of them were actually connected in the wron position. Make sure all you input and outputs are proper. Also if you have ope. Ends close them with end caps.

Thanks. I am not tech savvy. Where is the splitter located?

Mine where behind the 12v swicth,under the sink, behind the power center ,and hehind my sofa where the so call access center

Basically i followed the cable as much as i could and guessed or got lucking finding some of them

I don't have a KEY TV. I'm wondering how to access the TV wires behind the main TV mount? There are no tell tale screws to remove but I'm pretty sure everything is behind there. I'd like to access this to troubleshoot my poor TV reception. I have a Winegard 360 plus. I am able to get channels using a portable digital antenna but cannot on the wingard antenna. The power is on, channels scanned, etc.
