Keyless Entry

Is anyone using the keyless entry lock with the remote FOBs? I'm interested in good or bad reviews before I install one. It would seem it would be a nice addition.

I had the Rvlock brand keyless lock set on my rig for a few years but I took it back off and reinstalled the OEM lock set because I was having issues with closing my door….had to pull really hard for it to stay locked and not pop open..probably just needed to fine tune the installation but I found the OEM lock set is all metal and the keyless was plastic..the interior plastic door pull seemed to flex over time and made it difficult to close easily…the metal OEM clocks shut securely.

I purchased a bunch of extra entrance door keys and also baggage door keys on Amazon…I keep one of each on most of my key rings so I always have one in my pocket and we just hide a set of keys when we go to the beach or for a bike ride around the campground …the locks are just keeping honest people out..if someone really wanted to get in they would just use a pry bar

I have a recent email where RVLOCK is have a Labor Day sale that ends today…next sale is around thanksgiving I believe

I had a similar problem and realized it is the 'door strike' positioning on one door and on the other door the door strike hole wasn't drilled properly. Anyways after correction it's been fine for 2 years.

Also I should mention that if you end up going in this direction to make the key situation easier I changed the locks on my storage / pass through to the same as the electronic lock and when I ordered my second electronic lock I had that Keyd the same. So one key opens 6 locks on my trailer.

Good idea on using one key.. I could get the keyless to work correctly if I took a little time to adjust it but usually only remember when I’m out camping.. I think my problem was a combination of a tight friction hinge and the door strike exasperated by the plastic interior keyless door pull.. I fixed the hinge but I just like the feel of metal hardware for now…

Had one on our Winnebago and loved it. Zero problems and we used the fob all the time. If they made one for the Euro style door handle I'd get it in a New York minute.
Supposedly been in development for sometime now.

Replacing all the loks with the same key was the first mod I made. By doing so, I ended up with 6 locks and 12 keys. I also ordered 2 keys with a built in led. Made it much easier to have one key vs a ring of keys like a jailer. With the extra keys I put a pair in each truck, gave our DD one, and have the rest in the toolbox. Never have to worry about "not having a key."

Definitely a good idea

Have one me use it all the time. I think it is great. Able to unlock the door before getting to it. Nice to be able to open the door for the wife from the truck when we get to camper after an outing.

I installed RVLock brand on my doors and ordered new locks for my storage areas, all keyed the same. When we got this rig, a Fuzion toy hauler, it had 3 different keys. I thought that was totally nuts. This is another small thing the manufacturers could do for the ease of the customer. Having the code for the doors are nice because you don't have to carry keys all the time.

I changed both doors and both baggage doors to the RV Locks, all keyed alike.
I do use the fobs most of the time, but they are loud so if I'm leaving to go for a walk, sometimes I will use the key to lock to not alert anyone of what I am doing. My only complaint as mentioned above is the plastic body. When you pull the door closed especially with these friction hinges, you worry if you will just yank the handle off the door, so far so good, they may be stronger than they seem, I have entered and exited several hundred times since I installed them. If you can catch a sale, they are definitely worth mainly because one key takes care of everything and you have the convenience of entering a code or using the fob without having to dig in your pocket for the key.

I installed a keyless and love the handiness. I always leave a key outside just in case. The only issue I have is the battery draw. Batteries die quickly even when the camper has not been used in 6 months. Two years and four sets of batteries used.

We have one and really like it. Just remember that you can accidentally lock the door with the key fob in your pocket by sitting down (done that one a lot! Haha) and the battery tends to run down quickly. We can turn ours off and on so that helps.

2 months ago I added the Axis extension handle the the 4 year old RV Lock. Makes it super easy to reach without climbing stairs, and locks with a quick push to the lion symbol at the bottom of the keypad. For $80 addendum to the original handle I would be without it.

I love the “RV Lock” brand. They offer two models, the pricier model has all metal parts. I did have an adjustment period due to the OEM striker plates on my Fuzion weren’t drilled correctly by Keystone (no surprise there). RV Lock also has great customer support.

RVLock

I have install two separate brands of RV locks. The first was an on sale lock that was a knockoff of the original RVLock with a Lion head imprinted on it. The first knockoff lasted about a month before failing. The second one worked great for easy access to my RV. however in the summer sun of Idaho the plastic key pad cover shrank and would not stay inserted in the key pad. They do offer replacement pads but it is an inconvenience
