Anyone get an email from ASA electronics saying they need to update their in command system on the trailer?

Not sure how ASA would even know what my email address is.
Best I can remember, I've never given it to them.
I've never contacted them about anything.

But with that said, In-Command is not any different than any other computer device.
They have software updates on a regular basis, same as Microsoft or Apple.

You can check your current software versions and if you want download newer versions.

You can download the updates to a USB thumb drive and install them.
Others have said that ASA will actually send you a thumb drive with the updates on it.

I would give ASA a call or drop an email:

Monday – Friday | 8:00AM to 5:00PM (EST). (800) 688-3135 – Option 1.

I got one yesterday/today. Gonna try the update when I bring my Cougar home next time.

I contacted keystone first and got the ASA phone number from them.
I never trust emails with links and phone numbers. Call me paranoid but too many scams going these days. The lady at ASA said exactly that.....just recently someone was sending emails posing as ASA.
Anyway....she checked my software updates and confirmed that 2 of the 3 were out dated. Said those 2 can not be updated thru wifi and I needed to upload the links she sent me to a thumb drive and update that way.
Have not attempted yet but I'll check back after.

On my other trailer, I recall that if you have set-up Global Connect (system access via wifi instead of bluetooth) you register with an email address. That being said, I didn’t get an email, so maybe that means the guy who bought it from me did.

For what it’s worth, I usually wait if what I have is working fine. I don’t want to fix something that isn’t broke. It just happened with my truck, it started doing weird things and I found an update released in November, so I installed it and it’s all better now.

Seems legit to me because they have you doing the update from the incommand keypad itself or via their website with a flash drive…I didn’t have any sketchy links to click on. i guess they get your email when you register the incommand for global connect..i’ve received other emails from them…this is the email i got yesterday

They probably are doing this ( establishing a customer relationship by email ) because when the new and improved Incommand system comes out in the future they will market it directly to the current owners…The 1st generations are getting long in the tooth…..businesses often go back thru their files and solicit new products or services to their established customer base when things get slow or they are looking for different avenues of income

Humm. As I recall, when I loaded the In Command app on my phone (with Global Connect) I had to register with an email address.

Maybe ASA is like most of the other software and technology organizations (Apple and Micro Soft to name a couple) and they are sending out updates to keep the products that you spent your hard earned money to purchase, operating at peak efficiency.

Talked directly to ASA and had her send me the thumb drive updates in a separate email. Installed them on the drive...took it out to the in command and followed instructions. All loaded flawlessly and all up to date.

I received the email about a week ago. I can't access my unit until May so the update will have to wait.
I do use Wi-Fi so appreciate them sending out update info.

I would encourage any one that uses Wi-Fi to not delay updating firmware. I know I'll be doing mine the first day I'm able to have access.

ASA wants people to update to their current software releases, which they released last May. If you've updated your system anytime since then, you probably already have the releases they are pushing in the letter.

My own supposition is that their May software contains a renewed security certificate for their Global Connect function, and that their original security certificate is close to its expiration deadline. Certificate authorities generate certificates to be good only for a few years, and this is a common issue for software in embedded systems.

You can call them and they will send you the update on a drive. They have sent me two when I had my 29 rks.
