Tpms?
I got my TPMS for the 5th out a couple days ago. The antennae is broke off inside and I'm pronouncing it dead. It's a Trakker 400. It was OK but I really needed a signal booster. It is no longer produced.
What are you folks using? Best bang for the buck? Amazon is priced from $49 to $400+.

I swear by the TST 507. New ones come with a color monitor and a repeater I believe. Installing the repeater is no issue. You can configure it in various ways and they have great customer support.

I also have a question ref TPMSs also. I've read a lot of posts ref the systems on this forum.
Do all the systems HAVE to be mounted on metal valve stems ? I ask because my tires & wheels barely have 100 miles on them. Don't want to pay someone to have them removed and remounted with the metal stems yet if I don't have to.

I purchased the TM-77 and contacted them I was told no I didn’t have to change to metal stems.

Not familiar with the TM-77 system, but if it adds sensors to the valve stems I'd agree you don't "have to" use metal valve stems till the rubber ones split or break off from the weight of the sensor, usually at a very inopertune time.

^This, After the second time it happened to me I finally woke up and realized what was going on. Had metal valve stems put in problem solved. The stems can be changed without removing the tire from the rim. I'd just like to say again just because you add a TPMS you are not safe from separations. I have had two tires separate and even after coming to a stop they still were holding pressure.

Where and how did you mount the monitor?

The center of the Ram dash has the top of the instrument cluster. One each side it rolls up onto the top of the dash creating a flat space several inched wide. I use the suction cup attachment there in the space on the driver side and just point the monitor at me. It holds extremely well.

Mine is pretty much the same monitor... about the same size.. on my truck I mount it with the suction to the windshield.all the way over on the left side of dash. Down real low just above the dash... it runs off a built in rechargeable battery that lasts a long time

One of the reasons I use the middle is plugging it into the outlet. I tend to let it run overnite at times so it seems simpler. I also don't like anything in the lower corner of my windshield as it blocks my view of things coming under the truck in a turn. Guess I got phobic about that when offroading. The center presents no problem for me but others might not like it I'm sure.

That might work for me but I have a rv785 that sits with a sandbag mount right on the dash center/partially in the recessed dash area

Roper, if you don’t the flexing of the stem will cause them to leak or snap off completely. Your choice.

I'll throw my .02 in with this guy:
https://www.amazon.com/TireMinder-Tr...08&sr=8-2&th=1
Works great, and the color 'monitor' is an app on your cell phone. With a GPS and Furrion camera, I did not relish having yet another screen to view, so it works out great for us. You do NOT need to keep the app running in the foreground. The receiver is a small device (carried in your truck in the console/cupholder or wherever) that will emit an audible alarm if a set threshold is exceeded. You can then view the app to see the issue.
I mounted the bluetooth repeater/booster right on the side of the trailer A-frame and simply attach the alligator clip connectors directly to the battery about 1' away.
By the way, this is the best price I've seen for this item.
With regard to metal stems....always was curious about this as I did not see it as a requirement with the Tire Minder systems and so far no issues using it.
Actually, Tire Minder states if you do have metal stems, you CANNOT use the supplied brass TPMS sensors. You must order aluminum ones instead.

I would not run anything but steel high pressure valve stems on tires running 110 psi cold inflation... YMMV

So are you saying with 80 PSI max inflation tires, rubber stems are acceptable?

Been using the TST 507 for several years now. NO problems! Batteries are cheap and we've only replaced them once in 5 years. Also, NO repeater needed for us.

I throw mine up on the dash in the Ford cutout with a sandbag thingy and usually plug it in to the accessory plug right below it.
And yeah I've left it on all weekend before, more than once
