Propane Quick Connect size problems

I just purchased a Passport 189RB and I purchased a propane hose with a quick connect to connect to the connection port on the trailer. However, the connector on my new hose is way smaller than the one that is on the outdoors cooktop that came with the trailer and that fits the connector. I have tried to find a hose with the big connector, but without any success. Are there anybody here that can help me to find out where I can get such a hose, or if there is any kind of converter that can change the smaller quick connect to the larger one.

They come with a hose. If you don’t have one and bought it new, the dealer should provide it. If you bought it used, I would hope the previous owner would have left it. The hose is typically stored under the stove. Have you checked that area? The hose may have shifted/slid during transport.

There was a couple of years that I worked at a dealership that sold Keystone products and the outdoor stove hose was different than the standard 1/4” fitting. The QC fitting almost seemed “proprietary”.

There is a hose with the correct connector attached to the cook top. I need an additional one for my griddle, and that's the one I can't find

Sounds like you have a 1/4" and need a 3/8"? I've found the correct parts at CW, Ace Hardware and Amazon when dealing with this.

There are two sizes of gas QC (quick connection) fittings, they are 1/4" ans 3/8". The 1/4" are only used for LP gas and the 3/8" are typically found in natural gas applications. I don't know why Keystone used the 3/8" fitting for the outside grill during some years, mine are like that as well.

You have many options starting with a simple search like " 10' gas hose, 1/4" female, 3/8" male". Another option is to replace the QC on the trailer with what would be a typical 1/4" female QC to 1/2" female NPT (national pipe thread). Other options is to buy a hose with one end say 1/4" QC female and install a 3/8" QC male on the other end. Or change the grill 1/4" QC to 3/8" QC but that may not be easy depending on the grill. Yet another option is to visit an LP gas dealer and have them make the hose for you.

One warning, whatever you do DO NOT USE AIRLINE QUIC CONNECT FITTING! EVER! They may look similar but they are not.

Actually outside the trailer, I use 3 different sizes 1/4, 3/8, 1/2. (attached are some pictures). I have a 7000W commercial dual fuel generator (Kohler) that runs gasoline and LP. It uses a 1/2" setup which is plumbed to a large buried tank. Additionally my gas grill (using 3/8") is hooked up all the time for cooking. I created a 1/2" to 1/4" adapter so that I can additionally use at the same time the Blackstone when we have a large group.


It has to do with the BTU/volume requirements as all of these are reduced to the same pressure at the output.

Since you want to run two different appliances, I’d add a second quick connect for the griddle, that way you can use both at the same time. All you would need is to get 1/2” black (gas) pipe from Lowes/Home Depot. Remove the 90 degree elbow that’s currently under the trailer, add in a T fitting and a 3” pipe, put the current pipe with elbow at the end and a second pipe with quick disconnect off the center of the T. I just added two to my RV to use on my camp chef and grill.

Thanks to you all for your advice and suggestions. I made a hose myself from a hose with 3/8 male in one end and 3/8 female in the other. The 3/8" Female Flare Joint holds the quick connector, and the 3/8 male flare holds the elbow that connects to the griddle. Total price: $38.-
