I was getting the 500 miles left DEF indicator warning last week so I go to Walmart to get a jug of the SuperTech 2.5 gallon DEF
Last time I bought it it was around $9 was $15 last week.

I can't think of a single item that the price has not increased a minimum of 35% in the past few months & doesn't appear that it's going to change any time soon. Gas has increased about a 110%!

When the 2020 election took place 87 octane here was 1.83. It now runs about 4.19 with no sign of a slowdown.

Same here. Shocked me.
I used to alternate between Blue DEF and SuperTech. Probably all SuperTech from now on. But there is a new 7/11 being built in town with DEF at the pump. They have looked complete for 3 weeks but still not open. Must be a shortage of something holding them up. Who woulda thunk it...

There's many reasons why a buisness can look ready to open before they actually open. While the building may look completed you still have to get final inspections for occupancy. That occupancy typically includes everyone NOT involved in the construction so they can't have people in there learning how to run the place.

In today's world I think a shortage of people willing to work is the most probable shortage.

Not intended to be a political comment but could have probably picked a better way to describe the time.

Anything that gets transported has seen price increases. It doesn't have to be something that cost more to manufacture, just transportation cost alone is skyrocketing.

Scotty, we need that transporter working NOW!

My SIL called yesterday talking to the DW & said we needed to head to the store ASAP & stock up on all essential items, she said her local news keeps streaming messages across the TV that by August grocery store shelves will be empty. Sounds like more Chicken Little news reporting.

I think it is all the same. I like the SuperTech because there is a easy to read manufactured date whereas the Blue DEF has some kinda cryptic code that you need the Ovaltine Secret Decoder Ring to decipher the date. I have about half a tank of DEF right now, we will be leaving where we are in Ohio on Saturday and will stop at a Love's or T/A before we get to NY State and top off with fuel and DEF.

That's irresponsible by the TV station. Deliberately scaring people.
I debated with myself about posting the DEF story.

The media is evil like that. It's a shame how they abuse their platform to control and/or create a situation but I guess that's just the world we live in now.

Hard to believe any "real"" TV station ( network affiliated) would "recommend " or endorse something like that. That would be a quick way for them to loose their broadcasting liscence. I don't know anything about your SIL but I have one that I wouldn't trust to tell me anything. If my one SIL calls me by my name I want to go check my birth certificate.

This is the DWs sister with a husband, I'm in NO way related to him, like your SIL! He has her believing the only channels available on their satellite dish are news or financial networks, he believes ALL their propaganda as gospel & loves to spread it.

Whatever dude...

Anyway, RV Miles posted some info I had not seen before suggesting that the US only gets about 10% of our urea stock from...those countries...the rest or majority coming from Canada if I heard correctly, so while there may be pricing increases still (count on it), a shortage is apparently less a problem.

I'm still comfortable with my irrational panic buy of an extra full container backing up my half container on hand.

Had to go to Walmart for some spray paint today (touching up the wheels on and old 1976 Holiday Rambler I had given to me) and decided to check out the DEF isle. Shelves were completely stocked. If there is a shortage coming, you’d never know it by looking at the shelves today. Noticed the price had jumped up from $11 to $14 per jug though. We have a big trip coming up at the end of the month so I figured what the heck, grabbed 4 jugs (10 gallons). That’ll get me through the trip and probably the rest of the summer. I normally buy it at the pump, but the last time I paid $4.89 per gallon (used to be $2.69) so at $5.60 for this wasn’t that bad and I’ll have it when in need it on the trip.

I spend allot of time on the road and listen to allot of historians, businesses owners, farmers, and military analysts. The new regime hit every industry with new regulations shutting down allot of small businesses and limiting production of the large ones. If you're not paying attention you will say we are all crazy and this is "normal". If you are paying attention you know in your gut something is going on, live local the closer you are too your food and energy the better off you will be in whatever happens next. And as far as def shortages no time like the present to do some weight loss surgery on the tow pig.
