tire pressure monitoring system
I have a outback 260 uml. I've been thinking about adding a tpms to it. What would be a good choice? So many out there . Do I add/need a booster? Any info is helpful. Thanks!

I have had the TST 507 for many years and it has been a very good system with very good support. The new monitors come with a repeater as part of the system. Installation of the repeater is very simple.

TST 507 for me as well. Just make sure to add steel valve stems to your wheels, including the spare.

TST507 as well!
I did not have the repeater/booster on a CC dually towing a 40' 5th & never lost connection on any sensor, but if it's now included use it.

I use the repeater on mine mainly for the trailer behind the 5th wheel. It’s a long ways back there.

I had the old monochrome monitor and it did not require a repeater. It worked fine for many years. Decided I wanted the new color monitor for better vision (and you can get a sun shade for it). It came with a repeater. I was told right after I got it (couple of years ago) and this last week by TST that the repeater is integral to the new monitors and it has to have one. Looking at the new one vs the old I think the antenna/receiver must not receive signals as well as the older one.

It's unanimous, TST 507 as well. It came with the repeater but I have neglected to turn it on before without issue.

TST 507 saved me from a catastrophic tire failure on the interstate. The alarm chirped as the tire was leaking slowly. Gave me time to find a safe place.

TST as well. Just take the blue screen protector off before use.
Ask me how I know.

I don't mind being the black sheep. Someone on here posted that they had an older model of this TPMS. I took a chance and purchased it for our TT. So far, I've had no complaints. It does what it's supposed to do without any bells and whistles. Just giving you a second option.

Decent price and looks like a TST knock off. The only question I would have with those (as with many things on Amazon) can you get replacement parts/additional sensors? I initially bought a 4 sensor system, then decided I wanted 6. I was able to get more sensors for TST. A I also had a sensor start leaking. I contacted TST about purchasing a replacement, they sent me one free of charge. I’ve also contacted them for replacement o-rings for when I replaced the batteries in then sensors…..you guessed it, sent free of charge. Nothing against saving money and if the company that sells this system can be contacted and replacement parts available, then I would consider it, but I can say you won’t find better customer service than TST.

I'm really going to be the "black sheep" on this. I have used the TireMinder for a couple years and really like it.

I have a Tire Minder system too. Works great and no repeater needed.

Where did all these black sheep tire minder guys come from? Lol.
Actually, the TST and Tire Minder are probably the two most popular systems and both work well. It’s been so many years since I made my first purchase of the TST I can’t remember why I chose that one over the other. I think they’re both good systems. The TST has been great for me and saved me more than once so I won’t be changing, but I doubt anyone could go wrong with either system.

According to reviews, their customer service is quick and competent. Nowadays that's probably the best you could hope for. The only "downfall" I've heard about has something to do with the repeater. I don't need one, so I'm not exactly sure what the problem is. You can "upgrade" if you need to and buy additional sensors as needed, then program them into your unit.

I have been using the older TST 507 for the last nine years... It has worked as it should and never an issue...
I did just upgrade to the new color version of the 507 series and bought a new set of tire senders as well as the extender..
The new color display is:
.. much easier to see ( and I did get the sunshade for it )
.. much much easier to setup the sensors
.. Does not need to be plugged in all the time ( not recommended by TST ) and the rechargeable battery will last for several days of use without plugging in
This allows you to put the newer color display just about anywhere you want with no need for power wire to it...
One thing I did notice with the new tire sending units is:
.. they come up on the display much quicker than the older ones
.. the tire pressure read is within 1 psi on all 6 tires comparted to my tire gauge reading
