Back leveling jack has cracked frame

Hi!
On our last trip, we noticed that the left back leveling leg looked slightly crocked when it was on the ground.
Our son crawled under and told us that there was a slight crack in the angle bracket where it attaches to the frame.
We know that it needs to get rewelded, but have no idea who does this kind of work.
How would this happen? We did not hit anything, nor did we tow it without having all legs up.
We did have it in the shop for a water heater repair and an installation of an air-conditioner. (They managed to damage the roof membrane in the process, but we did not notice until month later.) Needless to say: not a place we want to go back to.

So.... where do we go from here?

You could find a mobile welder, or find a shop that the rv and truck can fit into.

Is it just a typical "scissor jack"?

Could you remove it and move it over to a solid piece of the frame, or if it is damaged, just buy a new one and bolt it to a new spot in same general area?

Do a Google Search for "Welder" and your city. You'll get hits. You might also contact Welder schools. Sometimes, they'll weld something for you completely free so the students get real world experience. Something to check out.

To weld a jack onto a trailer frame does not require them to pull the camper inside, under shelter. It can be done easily enough outside.

Also, any number of companies will have mobile welders they carry with their on-site repair, fix, or install companies (like fencing, gate, metal fabrication, companies.) Most farmers have their own welders and do their own welding as parts on the farm equipment break, only too often. If you know a local farmer, they may help you too.

Most scissors jacks are mounted with the bracket as part of the jack, not part of the trailer. The jacks come with the mounting bracket "built into the top of the jack" and that bolts onto the trailer frame. So, take a good look at your jack, you'll probably find that all you need to do is either unbolt the jack from the trailer and take it to a welder to repair the bracket, or buy a replacement jack with a bracket that's not cracked and install it under the trailer, probably using the same holes that the original jack bolts used.

Do you have a 4 or 6 point "leveling" system or just crank down or motor driven rear "stabilizers" as shown in the previous post?
You stated "back leveling leg", if they're the ones pictured above those are not intended to be used as levelers, they are designed to have a reasonable amount of tension after ground contact to "stabilize" the rv not lift it.

Questions could like be answered with more context if the OP took a second to make a signature. This function is located under the UserCP tab at top/left of every page. Make sure you save it and include year, make and model of camper and the same for your tow vehicle.

It might be a Keystone Cougar X-lite 28SGS. I think that camper will have scissor type stabilizers and not a leveling system. Those things just unbolt and are fairly easy to install. They come in a variety of ton capabilities. Lots of sellers but here is one I trust:

https://www.etrailer.com/s.aspx?qry=scissor+jacks

I don't see much point in getting the most heavy duty as these scissor jacks are not used for jacking up the trailer; only to extend and take sway out. You don't lift the trailer with them but you just make firm contact with the ground or a block (I use blocks under them as I don't the scissor jacks extended all the way).

When you make a signature, you have to save it after creation btw.... good luck.

I'm almost certain that model is a 5th wheel, and everything 2015 and newer has 4 point auto level.

This is a 5th wheel but according to the link below, under "leveling jacks", the rear is "manual" which I don't think is going to be auto level.

Look in the brochure, and it shows this rig as a half ton eastern fifth wheel, and it also shows the auto leveling as an option. https://library.rvusa.com/brochure/2...ar%20XLite.pdf

I know it looks that way and in RVUSA website specs it says that, but maybe it's an option. In the following video, this one has auto level, the rams are tucked up nicely.

That video is exactly the 5th wheel that we have.
It has the automatic leveling system.

(How do I add photos?)

Yes, I looked at that video and several others. Some looked like it had auto leveling others you couldn't tell. I know that I've looked at countless 5th wheels since 2015 that didn't have auto level so about all we can do is go with standard equipment unless the OP gives specific details (as in post 15) or provides pics.

Bear in mind these are stabilizing Jack's, not leveling Jacks. Don't overload them.

Again, put together a signature with year, make and model of camper and tow vehicle. Under UserCP top/left of every page then SAVE IT! To post a picture, either use the Quote or Advanced reply function and then go down and find MANAGE ATTACHMENTS. Click and upload from your computer. After scrolling to find the image you want to upload, make sure you push the upload button then close the window that popped up.

Auto level means he has the levelling jacks, not the scissor type jacks.

Not sure if OP has been following along or not.
