I also have an awning on the dinette slide which called for a little different mount. The Solara Mounts work fine, YES you do have to slide the topper a little more to the left for clearance, Only had about 3 inches of clearance next to the front awning brackets It works fine and I was glad I was able to install it.

If you ever get a chance maybe you could snap a pic of how you mounted it…maybe from a few feet away so we can see it clearly and up closer.

Looks like it has to be mounted behind the slide's awning arm. Aren't they normally mounted at the corner?

I think I am fine without toppers. But I do wonder what Camping World charges to mount the toppers?

The brackets are above not behind the awning. They are also a little higher mounted as per Solara instructions, you can look them up on Google

Not much of a rain problem, rarely if it happens I just close and open the slide to clear it.
the good benefits far outweigh the few faults.

Gotta add some change to this one. More than 2 cents. Absolutely will not be without slide awnings. A little bit of water pooling just ain't no big deal. They have a job to do and they do it.

YES !!!...
They keep all that stuff off the top of the slide, as it has to come back into the trailer when you close things up. That's a really important feature, and I really love my slide toppers.
My son-in-law and daughter have a trailer with no slide Toppers. He always has to get up on a ladder with a broom & brush everything off before he closes it. I'm too old, too fat, too slow, and too lazy to want to do that.

Yes.

It’s cheep money to protect from potential water damage sources.

just say yes

Our Crossroads Sunset Trails 291RK has a 12' slide and came without a topper. We camped shortly after we got it and the site was not very level. It was raining and got there late so didn't do a good job of leveling. Short story is rain came in cause water runs downhill- the trailer was high on wrong side. Combined with the debris that was up on slide top and I decided it needed a topper. I am a die-hard DIY but looking at it, I had a local RV shop install it. We purchased a Solara from parts dept. Originally I was going to do it myself but asked how much to install. Topper and install was less than $900. Just so worth it than inventing new cusswords. I have plenty of other things that provide that for me.

I’ve installed two Solera toppers both purchased from etrailer. Their utube videos were excellent IMO. Not difficult but I needed help to slide the topper into the channel. I used a pair of needle nose pliers to open the end of the channel slightly and rubbed some bar soap on the spline of the topper. Used butyl tape under the mounts.

Slide toppers are useful until it comes time to do any preventative maintenance..

You cant access the top wiper seal to change without removing the topper

You also cannot check the last hour inches of the slide out roof at the outer board side... There is a strip of four inch wide etenabond tape over all the screws that run down from the top of the roof panel.. they have a tendency to back and out break the existing tape..

Its an owners preference.. I prefer to be able to inspect my slide out roof, wiper seals and outer edge of the slide structure without having to remove the topper to get access...

Since this post first started, I ran into this video on YouTube. If you have not installed the slide topper yet, this one is worth watching. I'm not saying "Don't do it." I am saying, this will help you to make sure you are doing it right, and why.
