I don't know what a Nissan NV is, but what about a roof rack and place fuel in that. The shorter square fuel can/bottles might work better up there. Four 2.5 gals would handle on/off roof better. Many years ago, I placed the trailer spare tire and 2 of that size fuel cans on top of a Pathfinder for a long trip. Never needed to remove any of that, but knowing they were there if needed was nice.
