Goodyear vs Hartland

Can ya'll provide some insight or wisdom on the brand Hartland?

Goodyears - $1003
Hartlands - $754

ST225 / 75 R15

I don't want to pay $250 extra just for a name, but also know $250 is worth it if the Goodyears are that much better.

The Goodyear Endurance is one that is always brought up as an excellent tire choice.

Also given generally high marks is the Carlisle Radial Trail HD. They are a very popular choice for many members on this site. I have about 4K miles on mine and no complaints. Your size is about $85 a piece on Amazon.

First off, remember who brought you all those fine Goodyear Marathon RV tires? Same company as the Endurance....millions and millions of damage from those tires across the country.

I use Carlisle Radial HD in ST225/75R15 on my camper and I believe this is my 3rd set with no issues except running over a piece of rebar a couple weeks ago. Bought the tire from Walmart online and paid $86 plus TX state sales tax delivered to my shop. Had it put on by a local tire shop.

Most of you know I avoid posting about tire brands. However, this is an exception because the Heartland is provided by a popular tire retailer chain and many may not know that.

Good to know. I like using Discount Tire, and have for many years. However, I don't know much about Heartland tires. Can find much more info on the use of Sailun.

Go to the Discount Tire website and look up the tires. They are listed as "better" quality/selection. Carlisle Radial Trail is listed on the same website as "best" quality/selection.... That doesn't say a lot for the tire chain's own product...

Sort of like finding a GMC rated "best" on the Ford website and F350 rated "better"....

A little research turned up Hartland tires to be of Chinese origins and seemed to come from multiple plants bearing the Shandong name. They also seem a proprietary brand sold only by Discount Tire. Haven't heard anyone using them for a report on this forum or any of the other RV forums I read.

Carlisle get's my vote. Same size (ST225 / 75 R15 LRE) going on yr 5. Plan to replace spring 2022. No issues with tires, use TST 507 TPMS, run 80 psi, metal bolt in valve stems, all tires/wheels lug centric balanced.

I have had the Carlisle new design HD on 3 different trailers. Not one issue.
If you shop them in person at WalMart you might get a blank look. I don't think they stock them and everyone buys them on line at Walmart.com., but the store is supposed to mount them free.
I usually trust Discount but the risk/reward on the Heartland isn't worth it to me.

I did not recommend anything; I just provided info. Brands are just to controversial and I try real hard to stay away from such discussions. However, when a brand has features that most other's don't have I'll mention them. An example is the GY Endurance. They introduced a scuff guard feature where material was added to the tire sidewall for some protection. It added weight to the tires but not strength. Westlake and Rainier have introduced off road ST tires. Steel casing has been developed for 15" ST tires and showing-up in most of the popular brands. GY has a 16" ST tire that provides 4080# of load capacity at 80 PSI, it's at least 3" taller than other 16" ST tires. AND, Trailer King ST tires are always in the top 10 best ST tire listing by consumer reports, sometimes all the way to the top. so, consumer reports are full of bull, right? So are many of the antidotal statements about ST tire brand failures.

And if you read the "reviews" pros and cons they are comical so full of bull? More like a joke IMHO. You are free to beleive what you want and buy what you want. For me, I won't put a TK tire on anything I own. YMMV

The article reads like it was generated by a computer, or someone in China using a language translation program. I know the author says he lives in the southern US but it sounds like BS to me. Twice he mentions the tires were difficult to mount on his trailer. WTH is he talking about. No trust in any of it.
