Changing furniture?

I have a keystone sprinter 27ml.

It has a built-in double recliner option without the massage or heat. I was thinking of swapping it out for a hideaway sofa. My black lab is too big to fit and he's a couch boy. I know, I know, first world pet problems. Hahaha. But seriously, I'd get use out of the bed as well.

As a past cabinet maker, I can't imagine it's too hard to replace. I found a website that sells rv furniture. Is it that easy? Does anyone have any experience? Anyone wanna trade?

I'm fishing for stories here. Some experience if you will.

Forget RV furniture, most of it is crap anyway.
Go buy good name brand furniture that you'd want in your home. You just need to measure for fit and the ability to get it through the door.

X2!
And the name brand stuff will likely be cheaper than the rv crap.

Oh hell, the thought had never crossed my mind. That's way nicer than the rv stuff. I'm so glad I asked.

Those are some nice setups.

I'm glad you asked too. The RV furniture, many times is not nearly as comfortable as a good quality residential piece....and the quality of the residential stuff is normally much better.

You will want to look at wall-hugger recliners to save space. Sothern Motion furniture does not usually have removable backs, so caution there. If you are working with a slide, be careful with the depth, Shallow depth slides do not accept full size recliners without adding a roller to the front for stability. Let me add, whenever doing a modification, make sure there is no interference when bringing in the slides.

Just yesterday Rooms To Go delivered our new 'real' leather recliner/love seat combo. Yes, it was delivered from 60 miles away, brought into the 5v'er, set up and the box removed, all for $59.00 (not including the furniture of course) We shopped a lot of places and looked at literally dozens of units. No heat/vibrate, sorry, but electric operation. I wanted cloth, but was out-voted one to one.

In our previous camper, we removed the kitchen table and 4 chairs, and the 2 recliner chairs and purchased a couch that was identical to the one we have in the house. We were very happy.

The trifold is useful for??
We've had the jack knife & the trifold, both were uncomfortable for sitting more than few minutes & totally unbearable for sleeping.

Trifold is actually pretty comfy to sleep on.

The new RV has shallow slide. We have to take that into what we get. I know it’s a trade off somewhere no matter what we get. And we are stuck with 68” wide

There is a nice lazy boy full sleeper, I believe is was 70 or 72 o was bummed

I dug a little deeper and found that each chair was installed with one pocket screw 1 1/4". So I removed those and realized the center console was only clipped into the seats. So I rearranged them and put the center console into the corner. I may have went overboard but I put two screws in Each to hold them tight ... I may have lost a mile or two per tank.....

Nice rigs everyone.

Ole' Rocky Rumford now feels like this is home. He approves.

It’s only as hard as your ability to build it.

Furniture doesn’t have to be from an RV catalog. If you find a piece of furniture that fits the space go with it. Some have even moved walls to accommodate longer loungers or sofas.

Just to share my experience: We were setting up to workcamp in Reno several years ago and the original couch/bed was just not cutting it for relaxing sitting/tv watching. Went to a local furniture store with measurements and bought a reclining love seat. Tore out the piece of crap couch, installed the love seat and never looked back. Best thing we ever did. That and the aftermarket RV sized mattress replacement.

Wow!

I'm inspired! We love our trailer but the Thomas Payne furniture is the worst! I want to replace the 2 theater seats with leather recliners and this fold out couch also with leather. We live in our trailer permanently on a lake so why not make it the most comfy? We replaced the bed immediately, actually took the brand new trailer without that mattress. Time to get shopping, keeping in mind we have to be able to get it though the door...minor detail!
