Hello, from the boot heel of Missouri

Just purchased a 2021 Cougar 23MLS. Going to pull with a 2010
Ford F-150 short bed. I’m sure I’ll be checking in on this forum a lot. Thanks

Welcome! I've been looking a 5th wheel 23MLS. Is your new rig a 5th wheel or a bumper pull?

Welcome to the forum : wlcm:

Shipping weight is when it left the factory and it will never be close to that again. Best method to determine if your overweight is to use the GVWR of the trailer and then take an average of 20% for pin weight.

What hitch are you using? Does your truck have passenger tires or light duty truck tires?
Congrats on the new trailer, I just hope your truck is up to the task.

Pin weight will be between 2000 and 2300 pounds. Suggest you take a look at the payload placard in your door frame. Add pin weight to weights for hitch, tools, passengers and driver and pets, etc. You are looking at least 3K lbs payload. What does your payload placard say? Here is an example:

Dennis is likely over his payload limit for a 1/2 ton. Our base pin weight is 1490. Ready to camp it bumps up to 1765. I'm right at the "Outer Limits" for payload with the diesel configuration for our 3/4 ton Ram. I'm hoping Dennis is looking closely at his actual payload and GCWR using the real world weight stickers on his F150.
