Slide cable interference

Found this the other day.

The screw is inside the cable for the slide, pressing it against the wall. Luckily it hasn’t started freying yet.

The screw is screwed through the cable? That is some next-level shoddy workmanship, and I've seen some real doosies. It must be in the stationary/anchor end of the cable otherwise it would have ripped the plastic shroud off the first time it was moved, which we hope was at the factory after installing it.

My interpretation of your situation based on the photo:
* the pulley bracket has deformed your wall (like mine had) and allowed the cable cover to separate at the top from the wall
* the cable that is under the cover is not adjusted properly, it is loose

IMO: Quick fix is to adjust your cables. Proactive fix is to reinforce the wall where the pulley bracket mounts (like I had to do).

No, the cable went around the screw. Loosened up the cable when I took the screw out.

Thanks Slow,

The cable wasn’t loose, it’s going around the screw holding the cover on it. I will double check to make sure it’s not deformed there.
