I'm off to Alaska

Hi all,
Well we're off to Alaska. Finally found a park with reasonable WIFI, so I was able to update my blog

www.bumala.com

I have to say, number one favorite upgrade was the LevelMatePro. To be able to see exactly the amount I need to raise one wheel or another from the drivers seat, amazing.

The WIFI Ranger has troubles with filtered sites, where you must log in to a web page. But on the regular sites it works great.

I've thought about making that trip a few times. My parents finally did it last year and my dad said never again. The Alaskan Highway was in terrible shape. My dad is very particular about his truck and had to drop down to 15 mph in several locations. He said some of the road heaves were so bad that they actually brought the front wheels off the ground in a few spots as the trailer dropped down in. By the time he got home he had to replace a cracked exhaust manifold and a front wheel bearing. Hopefully your experience is better. I would still love to drag the 5er up there at some point.

I guess that's why it's called the Last Frontier, but some years on the Hwy are worse than others. My best trip, besides in an airplane, was doing it on motorcycles with my son. I thought the Hwy condition, in general, was better than the freeways in San Antonio and Houston or some parts of Kalifornia.

I'm off to Alaska

Have a good trip. I just towed my Passport up from Montana => Anchorage a few weeks ago.

Watch out for the high winds in Alberta.

It was a great trip.

(that's my dad standing there).

Take your time and I might see you when you get here. We are leaving to go North and East to Canada, possibly who knows where the truck will take us.

Nice Drone shots! Plan on taking mine on along soon also.
Have you ever run into problems using it in more public places?
There is so much controversy over them these days.

In America, http://knowbeforeyoufly.org or get the app B4UFly. Canada has similar restrictions.

I made it to Alaska. WWW.Bumala.com updated.

I'm really impressed with my Jeep Grand Cherokee pulling the rig. I set the adaptive cruise control to 55 and it goes 55 +/- 2 the whole way. Up hill down hill whatever.

The best thing since anything is the level mate pro. It make leveling so easy.

By the way the roads were not that bad. The usual frost heaves, and such, but really fairly good.

Have a great trip. Pulled our 34' Monty up and back from Az. Twice. It's a beautiful State and people are very friendly. Keep your fuel topped off! Try not to get much below half tank if you can help it. If you like Thai food, don't pass up the small take outs and food trucks throughout Ak. Fabulous food. Have a great journey and be safe.
