When I first read the post the first thing that came to mind is WTF, 212 degrees. I understand what he’s saying and trying to illustrate. However, using realistic numbers seems to be more appropriate. Even towing out west on blacktop roads in 100+ temps I’ve never seen anything above 130 degrees. The hottest day I ever towed was in Yuma, 112 outside temps and the tires got to 127. Considering (according to TST) most tire failures due to temps occur above 160 I doubt anyone will ever see 212. The tire will most likely let the air out in dramatic fashion well before that.

I guess I'd be on the side of the road long before my tires got to 212 degrees. The TST system is factory set at 156 degrees? IIRC and that's where mine is set. I've been all over the S and SW and I've never gotten out of the 120s.

I'm not certain where this conversation is headed, but let's keep in mind that our TPMS's only measure that temperature at the valve stem. Along with the TPMS measuring the temps's in the 120's on a hot day, the infrared thermometer measures temps in the 140-145 on a hot day ON THE SURFACE of the tires.
I might also add the F1 and NASCAR fans will readily tell you that tire temperatures will go as high as 212 on a regular basis. I also suspect that Kyle Larson's Goodyear's might be a different compound than those on the Mobile Suites.

I'm not sure but I think a couple of those fellers may not be towing legal.

When last towing the tires got up to 43 psi in air temps of 97 degrees. My infrared temp reader showed the tires at 130 degrees. The Carlisle trailer tires went from 63 psi to 70 psi and only showed 120 degrees.
So your Standard load P-tires went from 35 to 43 psi. Is 8 psi rising x 10.5 degrF= 84 degr hotter then say 60 degrF, when you filled them cold at 35 psi.
Is 144 degrF .in the tire.
My post given 39 psi if driving about 50/55mph at 100 degr. Temp in tire 110 to 115 degrF. When 100degrF 20 degr hotter, so 130/135, gives 41 psi.
So or, you drove a bit faster then 50/55mph.
Or external factor like sunshine on tire , but most likely noting wrong

Or some overloading, because tires capacity is with comfortable reserve.
Sl P tires can carry maxload up to 99mph with 35 psi.
Where all the tires that 43psi, or only rear.
