Short answer: NO. You need a dually. Look at the payload sticker in your trucks door frame. You likely have between 2K - 3K payload or in that neighborhood. General gestimate of tongue weight of a 5th wheel is 23 percent of the gross weight so you have a 4K lb tongue weight for the trailer plus all the stuff in your truck plus the hitch and passengers, etc. Airbags don't increase your payload; only stop sagging as much and their weight actually decreases payload. Look at a bumper pull or smaller camper or dually if you are stuck on the Fuzion.

1 ton all day. Your pin weight is going to take you outta the 3/4ton truck.

Welcome aboard! I'm glad that you are asking the question...too many don't. I agree with the above. You will need a 1 ton for sure...likely a dually. But the door sticker will tell you what the truck can carry for payload and 23% of the trailer GVWR will tell you the amount you need to carry...plus hitch, plus cargo in the truck, plus people. That's a big, heavy trailer...you'll need a big truck.

What truck to pull? 17,000 pounds? Answer... A big one!

Welcome to the forums! You are in 1 ton dually country with that load!

Good luck!

I pulled a 371 Fuzion with a F250 6.7 diesel with the short bed. Too much weight with the generator and camping supplies on the hitch..probably over 3K pounds easily. Ended up buying a F350 dually with the 6.7 Powerboost and 4.10 gearing for easy and safely towing the Fuzion and then a 17K pound Solitude 5th wheel. A dually diesel is by far the best towing machine to pull over 14K pounds.

Air bags won't do anything for the 2500 but level it. The 3/4 will not "carry" the weight of a 17k trailer. To do so safely would require a 1 ton dually.

Welcome to the forum from south Georgia. The payload on my Ram 2500 is 2097# with the Cummins. Had my rig loaded headed to a campground just by myself weighed at CAT scales last October and I was almost 400# over my payload. And my 5er is not even close to the weight of the OP's.

With that said, this is why I have a 3500 on order. Plus I can't wait to get back into a GMC

See my signature.

That’s a definite NO! That trailer is one ton dually or even 450/4500.
