Landing gears

About a year after I bought the FW, I noticed a grease fitting on each leg of the landing gear. They were painted black and not very visible, at least for eyes this old. I figured that if they were there, then the thing needed to be greased.

Do-you all have them, there is nothing in the book about them. See photo.

You know, I haven't seen any grease fittings on our Cougar's landing gear - but I have to agree with you about the old eyes - thanks for posting this info - will check it out first chance

Thanks for telling us about the grease fittings. I've looked in there for two years and never saw them!
So.. What did you do? I'm ready to grease them but how much, what kind of grease, etc. Let me know if you get a chance.
Thanks.

I am no mechanic, so I don't really know.

I gave it 3 or 4 shots of multipurpose grease and hoped it was OK. It should do it as this does not rotate fast.

I have them on my 2011 291RLS HC. As much as we use it I grease it at least twice a year. I use the same grease I use on the wheel bearings, just a couple pumps in each. My previous unit which I had for thirteen years, those had to be taken apart and done by hand, once every two years. Never had an issue. The question is, does this zerk lube the top bevel gears as well as the acme thread screw? Won't know that untill I take one apart and inspect it next spring.
Happy Campin.....
