New from Alabama

We just purchased a 2021 Avalanche 378BH fifth wheel (we upgraded from a Coachmen travel trailer). The dealer installed a washer / dryer combo before we took possession. However, there is no closet rod. When I called them, I was told that the closet rod would no longer fit since it was mounted to both sides of the coach - the washer / dryer now covers up one of the mount ends. They said there was no other option and suggested I post here. Has anyone else had this issue and found a solution? Thanks so much !!

I have seen a lot of different closet rod mounts. I'd suggest a trip to Home Depot or Lowes or search the web sites. If a wall mounted rod holder won't work then you'll have to get "innovated" and add a support on the free end with some lumber.

Don't rule out a vacuum/suction attachment on the side of the dryer to support that end. We have a grab bar attached to the side of the shower attachment (since DW had knee replacement three weeks ago) and you could hang a side of beef from that rascal.

Depending on how sturdy your dryer is ..maybe you could use construction adhesive to attach one of these to the side of the dryer and the other to the opposite wall.

First, congrats on the new trailer!

Looking at a video of that unit I don't understand what they were thinking with that rod running across the entire width. Placing a washer/dryer in there would necessarily require its removal. From looking there was also a solid top shelf going across; what did they do with that? I'm assuming it's still there in some fashion?

You've been given some good ideas to think about. I'm wondering, if the top shelf is still there, about using some sort of attachment on the end of the rod (cut to fit the new width) to keep it from sliding back and forth over the end of the bracket screwed to the underside of the shelf??? Just thinking out loud...if it's even still there. Good luck - Home Depot and Lowes are probably going to be your friend.
