New Cougar

Hello all. I just bought a new Cougar 368mbi and have a 2012 Chevy 2500Hd Duramax crew cab 4x4 for a tow vehicle. This is our 3rd rv and 2nd fifth wheel and 2nd Keystone. Our first Keystone and fifth wheel was a 2006 Laredo 29RL. We out grew it and the kids wanted their own space and beds so we went with the 368mbi. We took it out on our first trip this past week and we all love it too say the least. It was really nice to all the extra room and everyone having their own space.

Welcome from Pennsylvania and I hope you enjoy it. That said, have you checked the numbers on that monster vs your truck? That rig has a hitch weight of 1980 lbs dry... I am thinking that alone is nearly all the entirety of your payload on an 8 year old 3/4 ton diesel. That trailer would be a load for my truck and I likely have 800 lbs or more payload than you do. You might should run the numbers and strongly consider going to a one ton truck so that your enjoyment of that beautiful rig will be a safe one, as it is likely not so safe right now. 3/4 ton diesels are not great 5er towing trucks due to their very limited payload.

My HD had 3190 payload and passed on even looking at this trailer...but DW loved it. With a 14k weight and estimated pin of 2800 even the gasser can't take that on. Thanks for the observation.
