TV DVD and Sound Through Speakers

I have a Sansui 32 TV with a irv6500BT head unit for playing DVD's. I can't seem to find a way when playing DVD's to have the sound just come out of the TV instead of the overhead speakers? Anybody got the same unit?

That would depend on how it is hooked up. In most cases there is a yellow VIDEO out cable from the the DVD to VIDEO in on the TV and the red and white AUDIO cables go from AUDIO out on the TV to AUDIO in on the DVD. For what you want to do you need a second set of red and white AUDIO cables going from AUDIO out on the head unit to AUDIO in on the TV. There are other cable possibilities such as HDMI but the principle is the same. Usually the DVD players installed by the factory are pretty basic and may not have the necessary audio out connections. Pull the DVD head unit out at look at the back of unit to see what choices you have.

For my setup I do not have speakers in my bedroom so when the TV was turned and we were watching a movie, the sound was in the living area. I thought about adding speakers in the bedroom and running the wires to the "B" slot on the radio but it was easier to just buy a DVD player and connect it just to the TV so the sound came out of the TV speakers.

I purchased a cable to go from the output on the DVDs player to the TV. Sound was then on both the speakers and the tv. To turn off the speakers I pressed the speaker button that was not immediately in use with any real speakers.

I have the same setup and the speakers sound better than the TV. I wouldn't mind having the TV sound on too but not exclusive when watching a movie. I guess I'm used to surround sound at home.

Ours is wired from the factory with both TV and speakers working together on DVD. Also use the surround sound speakers when watching TV only by switching the stereo to AUX 1

Disconnected the outside speakers as I think they should be illegal...

I actually love having outside speakers, why should they be illegal?

Outside speakers lead to playing music.... outside

Seriously, I don't have a problem with music being played by those who want to listen as long as everyone who can hear it is in agreement...

But I don't care to listen to it from can to can't and beyond... I go camping to get away from the rap and whatever else, that I have to contend with daily at the convenience store or red lights and even my own home when the boom box on wheels comes rolling by.....

With all the mobile devices available and really great headsets... if there were no outside speakers then everyone could listen to their choice of music and leave others in peace..

Glad i found this post. My dvd sound comes from the trailer speakers also. I don't have line of sight from the couch to the irv to change volume.

Chuck.
