Battery Disconnect Switch

Hi Guys,

We have a 2013 Fuzion 342 and went to switch the battery disconnect to bring power to the trailer and in did not work. Nothing. No DC power. I checked all fuses and breakers, nothing. I then was frustrated and hit the switch on and off a bunch of times and it turned on! Checked all the connections and wires that were relevant near what I think is the Battery disconnect solenoid but did not find anything loose. Any ideas or anyone experience this. I hate to leave it this way. Maybe I need to replace the relay. Thanks.

Dave

May have been some corrosion on the contacts of the disconnect. Rapid on/off will rub the contacts and may have cleaned them enough to conduct.

If it were me, I might leave it and see if it happens again.

If it were me, I would spend a few buck and replace it with a Blue Sea switch or one made for harsh conditions to prevent it happening again at an inconvenient time.

Just to report back. I replaced the battery disconnect solenoid and all is working good again. Went on Amazon and got a replacement part and reconnected. Surprised it failed with only a couple of years of use.

It surprises me that they would use a relay for the battery disconnect, as opposed to a simple switch. It must just be a convenience item. Is the control switch inside the trailer?

The control switch is inside the trailer as part of the overall control panel. The battery disconnect solenoid is in the cargo compartment behind a false panel
