Those that have the Anderson 5th wheel hitch

Okay, guys, I have a B&W Companion non-slider hitch and I love it, it is very solid but the other day I had to take out my hitch because I had to go to pick up my wife and some other lady from the airport.

I normally use my HF cherry picker but this time it was late and dark so I didn't have time to use my cherry picker, I had to take it out by hand, I can take it out in two pieces it wasn't too bad. I'm not a young man (65) so I don't want to hurt my back any more on what it is already.

So now I am rethinking my setup, I'm thinking about going with the Anderson Ultimate hitch. You guys that have one what are your take?

I love mine. Pulls smoother than my traditional hitch and much much lighter. I have the older steel gooseneck version so 70lbs. I hang it on two screws in my shed in the off season. Only draw back is the extra lifting on your landing gear to get above the ball but I don't mind that at all. Most if not all of what you will get on this thread is that people who actually have the hitch are very happy. Those who don't have it will tell you it wont work or don't trust it. I only know of one member that had one and got rid of it due to not liking it. The only other thing I would consider if I was restarting is the goose box because if you already have the ball then you don't need a hitch.

Had one, now use a Reese Goose box. Remove the 6 lb. ball and the bed is clear. The air bag and shocks in the Goose Box make for very smooth and quiet ride.

I've had mine for at least 6-7 years and love it. The only drawback I can think of is you have to raise and lower your 5er a bit more than a traditional hitch when hitching and unhitching. Absolutely no complaints. Love the 39 lbs when I move it in and out of the truck.

Had Andersen and pull rite. Pull rite is a bit smaller in the bed, made of steel, but about 50 lbs.
Both pulled great. I just wanted more room in the truck bed.Click image for larger version

My plastic funnel was a bit beat up though. I think that was the only issue I saw coming down the road

PullRite for me. A bit heavier than Andersen but very manageable after 3 back surgeries. Steel not aluminum.

Happy!

I bought a used one yesterday from a guy that sold his rig. It looks brand new. I love it so far!

I can not see the ball in the truck bed but I use the center mark in the back window to line up on the funeral my sweetie is the landing gear operator and stops me center while backing . I get straight as possible and back slow . I do no let the camper down until it’s almost center .

I went from a B&W companion to an Anderson last year. I love it. Works great with our Montana and I think I have more turning capability because it really is full articulation. Like someone else said, if I was starting fresh, I’d do a Goosebox.

I don't have the best back. I heard, "You're going to regret that when you get older" a lot... I did a ton of research and bought my hitch before I upgrading from bumper pull to a 5er. LOVE the Anderson Ultimate 5th wheel hitch! Installation and removal takes minutes and I store it in the front storage compartment. Tows great and wouldn't buy a traditional hitch. Get one, you won't regret it!!

Those that have the Anderson 5th wheel hitch

I believe Lippert bought Curt, but I’m not sure Reese is owned by Lippert.

Not if the frame is made by Lippert, they approve the use of the Goose Box.

And no, Lippert does not own Reese. Horizon Global Corporation owns Reese.
