Question Please advise on TV/TT combo

Hello all,
I have recentlly been looking at a '07 Springdale 290CT Travel Trailer. Dry weight 6995 lbs, cargo capacity 2760 lbs, tongue weight 955 lbs.
My TV is a 2010 GMC 1500 Ext Cab Long Box 5.3 liter with all the trailering options including oil & tranny coolers. I have a Husky round bar WD hitch with anti sway bars. Truck's GVWR is 7000lbs Max towable is 9600lbs.

Is this too much trailer for my truck?

Thanks for your replies,
KQL

It will be close!!
If you load the trailer it will be right at max tow weight, and almost 1,000# of hitch you will also be close to payload.
Try it if you really like the trailer, you can always get a bigger TV. You do have unlimited $$$$$ right?

That much trailer seems like a stretch to me for a little 5.3. JMO How much payload does the truck have? You could be close on that too.

Truck has 1500 lbs payload and trailer tongue weight is listed at 750 to 955 lbs depending on which website spec sheet you believe. lol

The trailer's GVWR is just about 10,000#. Ideal tongue weight for a TT is 12 to 15% which means you should plan for at least 1,200# on the tongue. That leaves 300# for any other load in the truck including driver, passengers, fuel, and any bits and pieces you might want to take with you.

Realistically, you may never travel fully loaded, but 1,000 - 1,200# of "stuff" in the trailer would be a normal load.

So you are pushing max with even a normal load. Remember that the payload is partially calc'd on the right tires at the right pressure. Anything less and you'd be beyond max.

Thanks to all who replied. I guess I will have to upgrade my TV if I plan on pulling this trailer any distance.

I pull my trailer with a chevy with a 5.3l. trailer weighs 4800lb dry plus stuff probably 6000#. husky wdh and timbren suspension enhancement springs on rear. feels pretty good, but not sure could handle 7000# dry with this truck.

I don't think you would be very happy pulling it with that truck. Luckly you have a long wheelbase. You don't know what gear ratio is on your rear axle do you?

Be dilligent with your WD setup and don't try to set any speed records and see how it works out for the short distances. Also, don't bring much with you and whatever you do bring, try to load over the wheels in the trailer.

Then just keep an eye out for a bigger truck at a price where you won't get taken advantage of.
