I have that new member smell

Greetings from Northern AZ! I just picked up a 2008 Springdale RL66 that was used only a handful of times. It had been parked in the dry climate in Winslow, AZ. My plan is to modernize it slowly and lighten it up on the inside. It really has no big issues except for some lack of maintenance and neglect. It still has the original 12v battery.

Welcome aboard! I wondered what that smell was...

Glad you're here. There's lots of good help and experience to draw on.

Welcome to the forum! Spent quite a bit of time in Show Low/Pinetop several years back. Drove to Greer most days to fish.

Watched the video and plans for upgrades. You did not mention seals and sealant. They should be at the top of your list (along with the tires you already did). Water intrusion will kill an RV in short order. Watching the video it looked like some of the sealant (how much I don't know) has dried out, cracked and maybe disappeared - that's bad. The seal on the front pass through has rolled back and isn't sealing any longer. If there are screws under it (there should be) they are a direct path for water to get into the structure. There looks like a wire coming down the side of the trailer on the curb side - how is that attached? Looks like it goes through the window but has some sort of attachments down the side....do they penetrate the siding? Last, get on the roof and look at all the sealant there. If it looks like some of it I saw on the side it needs some TLC soon.

Good luck on the renovations and sprucing up, just be sure and get the things that will "bite you" done first.

Welcome to the forums. About that "new smell?" Well, just get down in the mud with the rest of us, roll around a little and come up smiling! After all, that's what showers are made for!

Happy Camping!
