Awning is not retracting all the way

My camper is now nine years old and it has a power awning. The awning is not retracting all the way when I retract it. Its about three or four inches from the camper.

Is there something that I can do? How can I fix this?

Thanks

Daryl

Is the awning fabric original? When it's that age it often will stretch and rollup a bit crooked. The only cure is to replace the fabric. Retract the awning and stop it periodically and look at the awning tube. Any wrinkling on that rolled up awning is an indication that the fabric has stretched out.

Yes, the fabric is original. How difficult is it to replace? It is starting to show signs of needing to be replaced, holes in area's, so replacing it is most likely what needs to happen.

Depending on brand, it’s fairly easy but does require two people.

Dometic does have a spring in the non motor end and you’ll need to “pin” it before you take the tube off the arms.

Shade Pro & Tuff Tops (I think is what it's called) are both good sources for awning fabric replacements.

If you buy an aftermarket fabric be sure it has all 3 “gimps” already installed. There are some that you have to install the valence gimp like a screen with the supplied tool. NOT fun.
