Walk On Roof??

I recently purchased a 2014 Passport Grand Touring trailer (2300 BH), after being out of RVing for a while. My other RV's had a ladder to the roof. This trailer does not.

Does not having a ladder mean the roof won't support your weight, or do they leave it off to save cost, weight, etc.?

I want to get on the roof for cleaning, maintenance, and putting the cover on.

Thank you in advance. Click image for larger version

The cynical side of me says it's probably to save $$. The more practical side says they didn't add the ladder because the roof isn't made to support the added weight off a person walking up there.
Just to be safe, I'd suggest a couple pieces of lightweight plywood or foam boards roughly 2'x2' to stand or kneel on to disperse the weight if you need to get on the roof.
Our son in law has the same Passport and that's what he's done. He's a big guy and has had no problems.

Looked at the pics of your camper's set up. Very nice! BTW: Where would I buy snowshoes in South Texas? Perhaps Amazon?

If you do order snowshoes, don't forget the foam rubber to pad them. Without snow on the roof, they're just like walking on sandpaper on the roof. TPO doesn't like "bare snowshoes" any more than it likes sand on sneakers.....

Here you go George!

https://www.rei.com/product/160737/m...snowshoes-mens

Not sure what any of us in TX would do with them in TX but I used to have some similar to this when I spent the winters in the mountains. I don't think they would work well on an RV roof as the traction aids on the bottom would probably wreak havoc on a rubber/TPO roof.

I'm spoofing as I know you were......

Welcome and nice to see another 2300BH owner. I can tell you it does not have a walkable roof. I used particle board to spread my weight when I had to crawl onto the roof and replace the A/C seal. Most of the seals you'd have to work on you can get to w/o walking on the roof.

George cancel that order and buy some used golf shoes. That way you don't have to worry about slipping off the roof. Disclaimer : Said in jest in case anyone really thinks about doing that.

Thanks. I will try some 3/8 plywood. In this market, the wood will cost more than the trailer. LOL

Thanks. I will try that. I am looking forward to taking the trailer out. So far, I have just been checking everything out. I pretty much have everything done, except I want to service or change the wheel bearings. It needs new batteries also.
