Cougar Xlite Cable TV issues.
Hello all and thanks for any help!
Did a search and didn't find what I was looking for. We purchased this 2012 cougar a couple years back but never tried to use the cable. Here's my issue and a couple pictures of what I'm dealing with.
Tried to use the cable, Amp off with a jumper on jack plate with no luck. I pulled the Amp and jack plate out and have deciphered the following so far.
From the Amp.
Orange cable comes from the exterior cable port, which then leaves and goes to the jack plate. Gray cable I cannot find where it goes...I assume the antenna because the cable at the entertainment center AND exterior port at side of camper are both black. Then I have the black cable that comes from the Amp to a 2 way splitter with nothing connected to it. I assume the two cables that hang from the ceiling connected together used to connect here? SEE PICTURES.
What do I have to do to get cable working in the camper? Any help would be appreciated!

You will be amazed at the routing they do at the factory...
this toy will let 1 person trouble shoot and chase cable paths
probalby a pinch cable or bad connector end

In photos #1 & 2 there is a splitter with no wires and two wires that are connected together. Don't know who or why that was done but I would start by disconnecting those 2 cables and connecting them to the splitter.

Yeah that splitter serves a purpose I'm sure. That was the next move but I wanted to see if anyone knew if they came factory with a splitter or not. Also that line that's connected together doesn't make any sense to me...if they were connected to the splitter wouldn't they now just make a loop between the two TV locations they go to? Kinda stinks I can't really trouble shoot until I hook back up to cable at our next stop.

That looks to be exactly what I need to map this out. Curious how it works.

I use one of those, but a different brand. It uses different colored “caps” you put on one end and using the tester, it will tell you what color cap is on the other end when connected to it. Real nice when you have 5 TV hook ups in a trailer….BTDT

I had not seen one of those testers and ordered one today. Don't really know why since we don't watch cable TV, satellite or anything with commercial TV, BUT.....I do like neat test stuff! I'm sure I'll find a use for it some day......if I can find it when the time comes.....before it walks of with my SIL like the rest of my cable/coax gear did.

I have the Kline model as well. Works great. I have 9 tvs in the house, an attic ota antenna as well as cable. With 9 tv sets that's 18 sets of cable plus a dedicated FM antenna on the deck. Add the 3 surround sound systems anmd the 3 stereos that's 15 cable runs. Without that tester I'd go nuts trying to sort it all out.
