Water Filtration

What does everyone recommend using for water filtration for full time use?

Camco water filter

I use ours all the time.
If nothing else it helps keep sediment out of your system.
Remember I said helps not guarantee.
We love our system.

My 5th wheel came with the cartridge type installed with a charcoal filter. I added a RV Pure 10000 water softener before the built in filter & added another cartridge type with a sediment filter before the softener with both mounted into an old milk crate. We had good tasting water & crystal clear ice cubes at every place we hooked up.

If you are full time, perhaps a reverse osmosis under the sink and a whole house sediment filter before as the water comes into the trailer. You could mount it outside. If you are in Maryland full time perhaps somewhere where it wouldn't freeze as it can get cold enough. The Camco filters are really not very good although we use one for sediment. They tend to leak where the hoses connect.

If you are fukk time bt traveling about it would depend on where you are. I'm not a fan of the "disposable" filters like the in-line blue Camco filters. A good cartridge filter 10" and two depending on location. The first water related thing for me is to open the spigot or hydranr BEFORE connecting the hose. That will flush any sediment from the pipe and dirt from the hose connection. Then a good quality ptessure regulator (not the junk that came with the trailer), then the hose. Flush again before connecying to filter. I have my filter mounted to a flush mounted rack on the trailer.

Turn on the water, check for leaks, go inside and open faucets to bleed out any air then turn on water heater. I've been in vg that a carbon filter is all that's needed but I use one that also filters gor cysts and other things. You can get "sorftner" cartridges but they don't last long in very hard water. Spens any appreciable time in those areas and you'll need a stand alone softner.
