2014 Keystone Cougar Fifthwheel Power Cord Issue
All of a sudden my power cord appears to have a dead short. I keep it plugged in during the winter months and a couple weeks ago it blew the circuit breaker that I plug it into. The circuit breaker is big enough to handle the load and has nothing else plugged into it. I reset the circuit breaker and it immediately trip? Could this be due to a bad converter?

I don't think it is possible to plug into a circuit breaker; has to be some sort of outlet. What type outlet and is this a campground or other? 30A or 50A? Is the outlet one that was installed by someone who knows what they are doing? Does your power cord detatch from the camper? ETC.

Your first sentence says you believe your power cord has a short, then you asked about it maybe being the converter. The quickest way to eliminate the power cord is to unplug it from the trailer, reset the breaker and turn it on. If the breaker trips, it's in the power cord assembly, if it doesn't, the issue is on the trailer itself. Is it possible that some moisture/rain/snot got in the receptacle or behind it, that is on the trailer itself?

If you think your power cord is faulty just unplug it from the RV and plug it into the outlet. If it blows the breaker again....it is (or something in it).

First, we need to determine what amperage trailer, what amperage cord and what amperage rating is on the "house plug" where you're plugging in the trailer.
If you're using a 50 amp trailer and shore power cord and plugging it into an "adapter dogbone" and then into a 15 amp house outlet in the garage, then you are very likely overloading the circuit and that's what is causing the "circuit breaker to blow"...
If the refrigerator in the trailer is turned on, the water heater set to electric and the batteries are at 50-70% charge, you'll be drawing 15-25 amps inside the trailer and setting up the house 15 amp circuit to immediately open....
On the other hand, if you've got a 50 amp RV outlet on the side of your trailer and are "blowing a 50 amp breaker" when you plug in the 50 amp shore power cord, then, yup, you may very well have a problem with the power cord....
Before we start "blaming the trailer"... Tell us exactly what you're plugging in and what you're using to connect the trailer to the house.....
You may be facing a "normal, it's supposed to work that way" event rather than a "direct short in the power cord" or you may be "somewhere between those two extremes.... Tell us exactly what's happening.....

That is a heavy overload or as you suspect a dead short.
I agree with unplug the cable from the trailer, then plug cord into outlet and flip breaker, if it pops it is the cable, s
