Battery box inaccessible ?

So check out the picture on my new Montana. Today I was going to look into adding a solar panel at storage like I did my last trailer to keep the battery topped off with some trickle solar charging. The blue wires are from the onan generator in the other hatch on the left, and there are holes drilled in the box just like the front black negative wire. The red to the back wall is the positive and also has a hole drilled in back of box(fished into the box). I can’t get the box lid off if all these wires are connected to the wall ! Without disconnecting that mess of red at back wall. And the black wire negative to side wall. Like I don’t even know how they got the battery in there without connecting the cables first then drilling the holes and fishing them out the hole first. Then connecting to the wall once the battery was already dropped in. Am I an idiot here? I may add this to my list of warranty items. Being able to access the battery should not be this hard !

The trailer didn't come from the factory with a battery, only the wiring "hanging in the compartment" and a battery box that "may or may not have been vented properly by the factory"... Essentially, just an empty box in the compartment and the wiring laying/hanging in the compartment"

So, that "connection job" is the work of some "genius at the dealership".... Maybe they had some reason (note I didn't say valid reason) for doing it that way, but......

I agree, there's no way it's supposed to be that hard to check the battery...

john the only reason i can see that they did it this way is because they couldnt bend the thick guage wire enough to fit it through the slot in the middle of the box, or too lazy!

Matt if it were me that would be back at the dealer. It appears Phil Bob didn't make it through the 2nd page of Ned's "easy wiring at home for 3rd graders" guide. Phil Bob, at the dealer, did that. Oh, and why would you need a vent with a half dozen holes drilled all in the box? Sheesh.

I have a double battery box with the top screwed to the bottom, sealed and a vent coming out the top. My primary power cables go to power cable attachments through the top of the box (pos/neg and sealed) with cables attached on the top from the trailer and short ones underneath from the battery to the underside. It's a good set up allowing me to pull the top off the batteries (have to bend the thick power cables) and do what you need to do but still leave everything clean. Go find the dealership owner, find Phil Bob and read him Ned's "easy wiring guide"....or whatever you happen to choose...

MIne is not like that. Mine is very easy accessible. Maybe it was the attitude I showed them of how I wanted it to be. Sorry for yours tho. Should not be that way. My attitude? Got it from all of you teaching me about dealers.
