Black and Grey tanks, Handles.

I have heard of the Black or Grey tank handles and shafts falling off.
Is this true? If so how do you know which one to replace it with?
Does it just screw in or something else?
I have never seen or heard of this, just want to be prepared...

It happens all the time. I give them a clockwise turn to retighten them every time I use them. They are universal and you can buy a spare at any RV store.

Wow Thanks. Amazon lists 2 handle tubes, a 6 and 9 inch.
Do I get both?
Also is it a tube you thread onto a shaft?

I'm confused, do you order both or are you asking if it comes with both lengths? If you don't know the current length then but the longer one. An extra 3" shouldn't hurt. Es they are a threaded tube.

Thanks, I do not know the current length of all 3 tank handles. I just want to have some extra in case I loose one.
It looks like it comes in many different lengths. It comes in 8,9,24,32 and 36 inch lengths.

You may have to take a peek to see exactly what's there. It's the only way to confirm as your deal nor Keystone will have any way to tell you.

Why not save the trouble and expense of getting extras by making sure yours are tight? Pull the valve open, grab the shaft that goes into the valve with vise grips after putting cardboard on it so it does not get marred and tighten it with pliers on the extension shaft. I have done that on each trailer as soon as it got home and never lost a handle. If you just turn it to tighten it you will get it to spin long before it will ever get tight.

Maybe use some blue thread lock on it to reinstall?

Just be careful if you have the plastic " T" handles. Some plastics and locktite don't play well together.

Good point. I was thinking about the rod end nearest the valve. It that metal to metal?

I believe so, many are handle to rod to cable to valve.
