We've crossed the country a few times during winter with the trailer winterized. We carried drinking water and used it also for washing dishes. I mixed a couple containers of water and pink antifreeze for flushing the toilet. We tried to do our poop at rest stops and fuel station. That way we only needed the toilet in the evening and at night.
I don't worry about the liquid in the gray and black tanks freezing as long as they are well below full. There will be plenty of room for the liquid to expand as it freezes.
we did dodge a bullet once when I de-winterized while at Big Bend NP. We later ended up at Carlsbad Caverns and had a hard freeze that night. Everything froze up. I think the only saving grace was that the hot water tank was on the whole time. Luckily nothing broke.

To the "Participation Trophy" list, I will add:

We were in Flagstaff overnight and had a hard freeze. I was all set for the cold & kept everything operating with no problems. I purposely didn't hook up the sewer hose due to the cold - kept it overnight in the heated storage compartment. In the morning, I hooked up my nice warn not-frozen sewer hose and then "yanked" the black tank dump valve. Turns out the valve was frozen (outside the trailer skin, duh) and I pulled the metal rod right out of the valve.

We spent the rest of the day emptying the black tank into a bucket (manual dump - ugh!), then replacing the black tank dump valve. It's a good idea to "be gentle" with your dump valves in cold weather!

The DW gave me a gold star in lieu of yet another participation trophy - there's no room left on the shelf!

Gpokorn, I am about 50miles north of you. I typically winterize the TT no later than the middle of October. Northern Colorado fall weather can be finicky at best. And this year was a good example. We have had temps in the single digits and 8” of snow before the end of October. Florida here we come!
