First trip in new camper with spread axles.

We took our first trip in our 2015 Passport 3220BH and really enjoyed it. We upgraded from an 07 Flagstaff 27ft that we had for several years & loved but out grew. The Passport towed really well and set up really easy. The trouble came when I went to back it in the driveway. It was VERY challenging, the "load equalization axles" are horrible to back up. It appears to me that the tires/axles are under ALOT OF STRESS while backing. The tires don't seem to slide as easy as our previous camper. This spread axle design is new to me and wondering if anyone has these spread axles on their camper? What are your thoughts/concerns about them? Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

I have had the wide placed axles on 2 trailers, no issues with towing or backing. One set of tires slide some on tight turns but the trailer moves right to where we need it to. Never towed with the close axles.

No problems here after 2 years of use.

Same here, no issues with backing. As far as the tires go, at least on my 2013 passport, keystone definitely took the cheap way out. Do the math sometime and you'll find that they are at or barely under the max weight rating for the tires. The only way they stay under the max weight is by figuring in the weight from the tongue weight on the truck. Limited choices for D rated tires on 14" rims too. But that is a different issue for another thread. Love my passport 3220!

Haven't had any issues with our 2012 2650BH axles. I always pull straight forward then straight back in to the drive after the sharp turn. I want to take the side stress off of the axles before letting it sit for days at a time.

We also have a 3220bh 2011 and I like the spread axles and have no issues backing. The overall length makes it tricky but I have also not towed a 32 foot with regular or tight axles.
