We're put off by the price of the foam toppers; they're about half the cost of a real mattress. Our 3220 is a true Queen so without even sleeping on it we're mattress shopping this week. Out with the crap, in with the real mattress.

I just bought a new mattress for the stick house from The Original Mattress Factory and asked about a short queen for the trailer. He quoted a dual sided mattress that felt pretty nice for $408 delivered to the store. Takes 4 days to build and the only up charge is $75 for a custom size. You just have to go by there dimension list as what they do is take out a row of springs in the mattress, so it might not be exactly what you are looking for. The particular one we looked at was 1 1/2" increments on reduction or addition in size. They are a true factory direct retailer and have private label mattresses. We compared to the big names, and dual sided from them are cheaper than most single sided elsewhere.
I will have one of these before our 10 day trip in July!!

I went with a 4" memory foam topper for the queen and bought a full & cut it in half for the bunk beds. You should probably measure your bunks first cause some are probably wider then ours

We put a 2 inch egg crate covered by a 2 inch topper for less than $80. Works for us.

Our so called "pillow top" that came with our fifth wheel wasn't very pillow eee. We did what everyone else has done and put a memory foam topper on it. My daughter sat on it and said "oh, what a comfy mattress!" LOL

The 4" memory foam topper was delivered last night. It's in the trailer now. I have to talk the Boss into driveway camping for a night in a couple of weeks to try out the new setup.

I have the Premier and camped in it one time before purchasing a new mattress from mattressinsider.com. It's Gell infused to keep you cool. I have a sleep number in my house and prefer the memory foam in my trailer over the sleep number In the house. I also ordered the mattress topper to put over the dinette when it's made into a bed for my son.

We just dumped the original "inner spring" that came with the Springdale. I found a 6" not "memory foam" on Sears website. Paid $189.00. So far so good. I don't like to sleep "hot" and so far it hasn't been a problem. This weekend is promising stupid high temps with complimentory humidity. I will let you know what happens.

After the first camping trip, with complete lack of comfort and very little sleep, we bought the CampingWorld Eurotop plush innerspring mattress. It's been a very comfortable mattress and should we happen to trade RV's after the Springdale is repaired and back in service, the Eurotop will definitely be coming along with us to whatever camper we might buy.

I honestly don't know if we could get ours back out. It isn't very flexible, and there was much cursing, kicking and smashing to force it into place.
I suspect without the entertainment centre in the middle of the foot of the bed it would have been significantly easier

Audio,
that's funny! When the new foam thing arrived it was in a box that one person could carry. Wisely I heeded the directions NOT to cut the wrapping until it was in place. I swear it looked like a si-fi movie. It grew and grew, faster and faster until it was queen size and 6 inches thick. I really think it could have crushed small children and animals!

It was the same with our mattress. It came in a box about 16"x16"x60". The UPS man delivered it under his arm. I thought, "Oh no, here we go again, this thing is going to be just like what we're trying to get rid of." We also "obeyed" the instructions and removed the old mattress, laid the box on the bed, took the mattress out, started cutting the plastic wrapping and low and behold, VOILA, here comes this thing that kept growing and growing.... Eventually it looked almost as big as the one in our house. How they get them rolled and stuffed into a box like they do is beyond me.

But the bottom line is that after it "unfolded and grew to full size, it's as comfortable as any mattress we've slept on. It really makes sleeping in the camper something we look forward to where before, we actually dreaded going to sleep because we knew we'd wake up stiff, sore and cranky. Now, we just wake up...... Ain't retirement "wunnerful" LOL

JRTH,
When ours came I said "lets that the old one out first". That idea was immediately overwritten by SO who decided the new one would be even better on the old one. The fact that it was going to raise the height of the bed 6 inches was lost in logic. Well when the dogs couldn't jump up on the bed (god forbid) the original mattress had to go. The bed "chamber" in a Springdale 291 does not lend itself to moving one large item let alone two. I will leave the rest to your imagination.
