Dump valve to tank failure

Good news is that the leak wasn't the any of the plumbing for the black tank wash line like I thought it was. Ended up being a blindingly obvious problem with the grey tank for the kitchen I could see from 15' away once I opened up the coroplast.

How is a dump valve suppose to be mounted to the grey tank? It looks like there was a little caulking or putty & a hose clamp holding about 1/8" of pipe jammed into the tank. I don't understand how that held up for as long as it did.

Do I just do the same thing with a longer nipple glued into a new valve? Get one of those rubber couplers with the hose clamps on both ends? At least those are designed for that, not clear if the inner & outer diameters of stuff match up.

What do you usually repair the coroplast with? It looks like there was previous repair work done around the black tank. They used some kind of tape that looked like a black woven tarp previously. I pulled most of that off to look for the leak, then ended up cutting a new hole in the back once I found the actual leak at the other end of the coroplast. Duck tape usually doesn't last outdoors.

Nice plug from a hole saw & a pile of plastic shavings plugging the valve too.

We use Dicor, and two hose clamps. Scrim tape for the coroplast.

Have most of the replacement parts. Thanks for the name on the Scrim tape.

Found out plumbers putty is not ABS safe & actually Oatey (one of the main manufacturers actually notes this on their site). Thankfully I read it & didn't find it myself.

Also found out tat the stub pipe that fit in the tank actually broke. The fact it was only 1/4-1/8" long blew my mind how it lasted this long. Went back under & stuck my fingers in the hole & found the rest of the stub pipe broken off in there. Will be a bit of a pain to dig out, but not rocket science. Makes more sense now. Either vibration or a slight impact to the dump pipe probably caused it to crack & come out.
