Marshall, if I remember correctly THEY were eating sandwiches, drinking soda, and I was trying to trade gas for a sandwich!
On a more serious note, a few years ago we were in the middle of Lake Okeechobee on our pontoon when were waved down by a 21' bass boat with a 275 on it. He and Momma were about out of gas and couldn't find the marina. We gave him good directions, 2-5 gallon cans of gas for insurance and send them on their way, shaking out heads. I hope they learned a little something about gas consumption in a 275.

So I finally got around to straightening the bent jack. Me and a Buddy took it off and straightened the bent mounts on the jack on a press then, we used a come-a-long and straightened the mounting bracket on the frame the best we could. We were able to pull it out about an inch. We then just used 1/2" washers to get it as vertically straight as possible.it is not perfectly straight but it is pretty close. I may end up taking out a washer to make it even straighter (we may have put one too many washers in the the number two and three holes see picture). We also took the jack plate off and straightened too.

It may be a distortion in the picture but the jack tube doesn't look parallel to the tire tread behind it. If the trailer is level then I'd tie a plumbob to the upper bolt head and see where it lands if you don't have a spirit level to check the tube.

You are right it is off just a little. that's why I said I'd probably take one washer out as it is now just a hair to the outside. Got 3 washers in the 2 hole and 5 in the 3rd. I am also thinking of adding 4 more bolts just to give it more strength. It got a little warm after lunch 82 degrees and I lost my motivation.
