Jack, he's talking about a slide-in camper for the rear of a pickup. Actually it's a pretty good idea to get where you might want to go under the circumstances.
They are available with up to three slides and some in the 70K range. Obviously they average much lower.

That is a good ideal as long as I had a dually or probably need a ford 550 or simular. That would be getting close to what I wanted. Not hardly as much but would be close.....Still prefer a new pete or even freightliner......with a 13 speed manual.......My wife wouldn't drive it even if it had an Auto......

Heavy trucks

Absolutely !!! If you have the inclination and desire, do it.

We bought a volvo 780 last year and love it. We originally bought it to pull our 5th wheel ( and we do that nicely ) but we also find ourselves using it alone to camp and for road trips. It’s the best truck we ever bought. We love it for many, many reasons.

I traded our Raptor 413 for a 40’ Renegade Super C. It turns excellent and is very easy to drive so I wouldn’t worry about the length. I was looking at a 45’er but didn’t want to wait 6 months and it does limit you to fewer campgrounds. The big plus on Super C’s is their towing capacity - 20,000 up to 30,000lbs for the tandems.

I like those but I've been told resale is not too high. What kind of fuel mileage do you get? Auto or Manual? Does Campgrounds limit sizes to around 40 -45?......We've never been to a Campground so we are not familiar at all.....Tell us what we are missing...LOL

I do not have the time or knowledge to preform what I wanted to do but would have to rely on someone else to do the work. But it would be expensive. I do not know if a ramp could be built to get our Jeeo in the back box or not. I haven't got that far yet.....

I'm talking about putting a cabover camper on a flatbed truck.

Renegade (pictured above) & ShowHaulers resale is very good and in many cases hold or improve their value for a couple of years and I'm not talking about this crazy market we are in now either. They are top of the food chain when it comes to Super C's. There are many good Class B' & C's out there, but like everything, resale depends on reputation & build quality. Super C's are built on commercial chassis, my Renegade is built on a Freightliner M2 chassis, L9 Cummings and a Allison 6 speed auto. Mileage has been on par with my Denali when I was pulling my 44' Toy Hauler 8-9mpg if I keep it under 70mph.
Many State and Federal Parks have size limits, some are <35' but when there are limits it's usually nothing longer than 40'.

Super C would be where I would go if I were 10 years younger and my savings account was about $200,000 larger.

Folks put smart cars between the Camper and HDT all the time and use ramps.Jeep is a little bigger and a little heavier......can't see why it shouldn't go in dry box like on rear of FedEx Expedited trucks....

Found these ramps…probably need another truck just to haul them though lol

Also the Bugatti in the enclosed tow truck was pretty cool…it’s a rollback tow truck ramp with a box around it

Another question I would like to ask you experienced RVers. If I left Middle Tennessee where we live and headed to Arizona or other points in the West would we have any problem finding a Campground to stay at for a few days or even overnite? My neighbor recently bought a Camper and hasn't used it but once because all the Campgrounds was booked solid. If there is no Campgrounds where does a person stay? Thanks for all your help and answers!!
